Shot Clock in Use:

This past weekend at the Prep Hoops South Carolina Showcase the 35-second shot clock was in place. The day of action only saw 2 shot violations though out the day. Can we PLEASE bring the shot clock to the State of South Carolina for basketball?

3 Overtimes:

The final game of the day featured the Cannon (NC) vs Pebblebrook HS (GA). The game took 3 overtimes before Pebblebrook HS would prevail 70-69 over the Cannon (NC). A all-time first for me here NEITHER team made it to the double bonus despite playing 3 overtimes.

Future in the Upstate:

The future of high school basketball looks to be in good hands with plenty of underclassmen in the Greenville area. The 2026 Palmetto State Class looks to be a very promising one. Prep Hoops will put out its first edition of the 2026 Palmetto State Rankings in Mid-March after the season like years past.

Cougars Big 3:

[player_tooltip player_id='1030010' first='Austin' last='Swartz'], [player_tooltip player_id='1239537' first='Isaiah' last='Henry'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1742881' first='Sean' last='Birmingham'] saw plenty of action this past weekend for Cannon (NC). Swartz has plenty of High Major recruitment already finished with 25 points. Austin came out on fire scoring 16 points at the halftime intermission. He plays the game so effortlessly at times with his shooting and passing skills. He has no problems dialing it up from downtown and especially from long distance. Swartz at times was one step ahead of his teammates on plays. He can create his own shot at ease and really elevates up well on his jumper.

Henry really impacts a game on both ends of the floor with his play. Isaiah was able to finish on break through contact very well. He really shows to have good body control to the basket. Isaiah was able to score the ball from all 3 levels today. He plays very active in the passing lanes. Isaiah finished with 21 points today in the loss for the Cougars.

Birmingham a left-handed slender forward finished with 11 points. He was able to connect on some open shots especially some 3-pointers from downtown. Sean who hails from Iceland originally can play the small forward position or be a stretch four man. This trio of Swartz, Henry and Birmingham will look to lead the Cougars the rest of the way this season in the Hoop State.

[player_tooltip player_id='1742858' first='Quavon' last='Henry'] has been very solid in the games that Prep Hoops as seen him play this season. Henry shows to have great explosion to the basket with a very quick 1st step. Quavon will fight off defenders to the basket and seems to be best while playing the game in attack mode. He can get downhill in a hurry to the rack and really shows to have good body control. Last season Henry played at Academy of Richmond County HS before transferring over to Cross Creek HS this past fall. Quavon finished with 18 points today in the loss to Dorman HS.
