Comments: The Magi hit the road this past Thursday and took down the Sabers from Legacy. Stat leaders: [player_tooltip player_id='1177134' first='Aric' last='Winczewski'] 23 pt, 5 reb, 6 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1050246' first='Darik' last='Dissette'] 19 pt, 9 reb, 2 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1168194' first='Logan' last='Conklin'] 11 pt, 11 reb, 1 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1393889' first='Morgan' last='Nygaard'] 10 pt, 4 reb, 3 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1606346' first='Jaeger' last='Gunville'] 9 pt, 4 reb, 3 ast. Tonight we have #1 Minot vs. #5 Mandan! This is an intriguing matchup. The Braves have only played 3 games this season but they will be ready to take on the Magi on their home court. I expect this game to be high scoring and could easily be in the 80's. Minot should have the edge defensively. It will be interesting to see who Dissette matches up with. DD is hands down the best defender in the State. Will Minot run with the Braves? The tempo of this game could be frenetic.

#2 Bismarck Century (4-0)

Next Game: 1/3 @ Bismarck

Comments: Last week the Pats dominated the Blue Jays and picked up a 24-point win. Stat leaders: [player_tooltip player_id='1050245' first='Ryan' last='Erikson'] 23 pt, 10 reb, 1 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1048689' first='Anthony' last='Doppler'] 18 pt, 4 reb, 1 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1111175' first='Isaiah' last='Schafer'] 9 pt, 1 reb, 2 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1050255' first='William' last='Ware'] 9 pt, 7 reb, 2 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1194507' first='Drew' last='Kempel'] 7 pt, 5 reb, 3 ast. The Patriots continue to look like they have the most lethal offense in the state. Tonight they have a cross-town rivalry game with Bismarck. This one should be high-scoring, Bismarck likes to play fast, pressure, and they take chances on defense. The Pats could easily score in the 90's in this one.

#3 Fargo Davies (5-1)

Last Game: WIN 72-71 @ Grand Forks Red River

Next Game: 1/3 vs. Fargo North

Comments: Last Thursday, Davies picked up a crucial road win at Red River. Near the end of the game, GFRR had the ball on a BLOB with a chance to score but Davies got the stop and the hard-fought victory. Red River was in control for a good part of the second half, but Davies mounted a ferocious comeback and picked up the W to head into the New Year undefeated in the EDC. Stats Leaders: [player_tooltip player_id='1169136' first='Mason' last='Klabo'] 33 pt, 6 reb, 4 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1716697' first='Cole' last='Callies'] 11 pt, 4 reb, 3 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1050247' first='Raymond' last='Brown'] 10 pt, 7 reb, [player_tooltip player_id='1161524' first='Daniel' last='Yorke'] 8 pt, 3 reb, 1 ast. North Fargo vs. way South Fargo tonight. The Eagles could have trouble with [player_tooltip player_id='1144600' first='Carter' last='Zeller'] inside, I am interested to see how they handle the beast. Klabo is obviously the big point producer for Davies. Will the Spartans "chase" him or go "no catch, no help"? Last season, [player_tooltip player_id='1169136' first='Mason' last='Klabo'] went off for 45 points in a matchup with the Spartans and he received an offer from NDSU shortly after that game. Will it be the Klabo and Sem show tonight?

#4 Grand Forks Red River (4-1)

Last Game: LOST 72-71 vs. Fargo Davies

Next Game: 1/3 vs. Valley City

Comments: The Roughriders had the Eagles on the ropes last week but they could not finish it out. [player_tooltip player_id='1138811' first='Reis' last='Rowekamp'] went down with what looked like an ankle injury and he missed a big chunk of the second half. Red River still played well and built a lead in the 2nd half. However, the Eagles stormed back and came away with the 1-point win. One encouraging thing about that game is [player_tooltip player_id='1138812' first='Carter' last='Byron'] and his production. He did some good things with his double-double performance. He scored around the basket and produced on the boards. As the season goes on, Byron is going to be a big part of RR's success. They need his length, consistent rebounding, and a strong post presence against teams without size. Stat Leaders from the Davies game: [player_tooltip player_id='1115649' first='Zach' last='Kraft'] 25 pt, 5 reb, [player_tooltip player_id='1169135' first='Pearce' last='Parks'] 17 pt, 4 reb, 2 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1138812' first='Carter' last='Byron'] 15 pt, 10 reb, [player_tooltip player_id='1138811' first='Reis' last='Rowekamp'] 12 pt, 3 reb, 1 ast. The Roughriders should cruise to victory over Valley City tonight, even if Rowekamp has to sit out with his injury.

#5 Mandan (3-0)

Last Game: WIN 85-72 vs. TMCHS

Next Game: 1/3 vs. Minot

Comments: Last week, the Braves picked up their second WDA win over Turtle Mt with a 13-point victory. Stat leaders: [player_tooltip player_id='1647747' first='Karsyn' last='Jablonski'] 19 pt, 7 reb, 7 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1681485' first='Matt' last='Mudingay'] 14 pt, 10 reb, 4 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1219797' first='Hudsen' last='Sheldon'] 14 pt, 7 reb, 2 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1219807' first='TJ' last='Brownotter'] 13 pt, 3 ast, 1 reb, [player_tooltip player_id='1139257' first='Tahrye' last='Frank'] 12 pt, 10 reb, 4 ast, [player_tooltip player_id='1647749' first='Rustin' last='Medenwald'] 11 pt, 4 reb, 2 ast. The Braves have been shooting the 3-ball better than anyone thought and they will need it vs. the Magi. The balanced scoring from the Braves could give Minot some problems, it is going to be a fun game in Mandan tonight! The Braves have a balanced scoring attack and they play a fast and furious brand of basketball. How will they defend and attempt to slow down [player_tooltip player_id='1050246' first='Darik' last='Dissette']?
