Continue ReadingThis past week I went to three games in Toledo where I saw Whitmer beat down St. Francis and win 62-45 on Tuesday night. On Friday I went to see one of the hottest teams in Toledo in Central Catholic play against a tough and fast-playing Lima Senior but CCHS continued their success by picking up the huge 67-61 win in the TRAC. Then on Saturday night, I made my way to Ottawa-Glandorf as I watched them play a big out-of-conference game against Findlay and OGHS win that one 62-48. This article will cover the top senior guards from these games.
Jaynes has been huge for Whitmer this year. I have heard some people say he has been their best player this year so far so I was extremely excited to see him play. Jaynes is just as solid as they come. He does some things that surprise you. He is strong and very willing to throw his body into defenders and when he does he finishes the ball well. His body control is great. He also is sneaky and athletic. He is a smaller player but he gets up there for rebounds and finishes. His best skill is shooting and it was not on display Tuesday but he was still impressed. Jaynes’s defense as well is spectacular. His on-ball defense is some of the best I have seen in the Toledo area.
Greenlee was superb against the Lima Senior smoothing offense. He had very limited turnovers and he kept the game for Central Catholic at a fast but controlled pace. He didn’t shoot the ball much during the first three-quarters of the game but when it was close in the fourth he started attacking the basket and was getting points. He is a solid defender but he is a good leader for a very hot Toledo Central Catholic team.
Moore is the senior guard you want on your team. He is a leader and plays his tail off. He plays almost the whole game and has been very consistent in the two games I have seen Lima Senior play. He is a good on-ball defender. Applies really good pressure. I like his communication on defense. He doesn’t bring too many scoring skills to the table but he still gets points. He did a lot of his scoring with his back to the basket in the post bullying the smaller guard of Central. He is the engine for Lima Senior.
Bishop is the perfect point guard for Findlay. He runs their offense very effectively. Plays at a cool and calm pace that doesn’t get too sped up much at all. He didn’t force much early and let the game come to him. He finished with 13 points and 9 of them came in the second half. His shot is so pure and has an unlimited range. He played tough the entire game.

Levi Unterbrink
Unterbrink was huge for the Titans against Findlay. He played very hard and finished with 14 points and his points came at crucial moments. Got big steals that lead to points in transition. He was knocking down shots very efficiently. His defense was great all night long. His on-ball pressure was phenomenal all game. Ottawa-Glandorf plays a full-court press and Unterbrink set the tone in it with his ball pressure.
