Jaynes impressed me when I caught Whitmer in the playoffs by his burst and quickness. I always knew that Jaynes was a fast player with the ball in his hands but his ability to accelerate and blow by defenders caught me off guard. After an impressive senior season with Whitmer, Jaynes should be a target for regional Division III schools looking to add an athletic lead guard.

Jaynes had a pretty eye-catching performance just based off his explosiveness that he showed on Tuesday. I always knew Jaynes was a quick guard, but his burst stood out in a game filled with impressive athletes on both ends. Jaynes was able to get into the lane whenever he wanted to and scored at the 3–8 foot range with floaters and two footed shots. Jaynes has a little ways to go in terms of decision making with the ball in his hands but the more reps he gets in college the more this skill should improve. Our final 2023 rankings will come out after the OHSAA tournament ends but Jaynes made a case to make a pretty substantial jump on Tuesday evening. Division III programs I believe Jaynes could have a lot of upside and make a huge impact as an upperclassmen.

Jaynes has been huge for Whitmer this year. I have heard some people say he has been their best player this year so far so I was extremely excited to see him play. Jaynes is just as solid as they come. He does some things that surprise you. He is strong and very willing to throw his body into defenders and when he does he finishes the ball well. His body control is great. He also is sneaky and athletic. He is a smaller player but he gets up there for rebounds and finishes. His best skill is shooting and it was not on display Tuesday but he was still impressed. Jaynes’s defense as well is spectacular. His on-ball defense is some of the best I have seen in the Toledo area.

Jaynes has been with Whitmer but he will be in a vital role for the Panthers this year. He will give the ability to spread the floor for the Panthers as three-point shooting because it is not West and House’s strong suit. I also think he will be huge at giving West breaks at the point guard positions for them. He is a good defender and a very nice role player. He can be a player teams might forget about when playing Whitmer but if they make that mistake he will make them pay.
