PIL: Moroni Seely-Roberts Moroni Seely-Roberts 6'6" | SF Lincoln | 2023 State OR (2023 Lincoln)
We picked Seely-Roberts as the POY in the pre-season and he’s done everything so far this year to prove us right. The senior forward is scoring as usual at 22+ ppg and continues to be one of the top rebounders in the league, but he’s also excelled with his passing abilities within the Cardinals offense. While twin brother Malachi will give him a run for the money, the odds on favorite is the best player on the best team, Moroni.
Metro: Brayden Boe Brayden Boe 6'5" | CG Mountainside | 2025 State #254 Nation OR (2025 Mountainside)
Coming into the year we knew that Boe was primed for an all-league kind of year, but the super sophomore has taken things to another level. He’s been absolutely dominant in practically every game he’s played for Mountainside and given the way he not only scores, but rebounds and especially passes the ball, a single game triple-double is on the horizon. Beaverton has their candidates but right now, Boe has the edge.
Pacific: Matthew Verkamp Matthew Verkamp 6'4" | SF Sherwood | 2023 State OR (2023 Sherwood)
He might not be the top scorer in the Pacific League – that honor goes to Liberty’s James Kefgen – but Verkamp is the best all-around player on the best team in the conference so far. He got off to a good start while Jared Sucher Jared Sucher 6'4" | SG Sherwood | 2023 State OR was out due to injury, but even with the latter’s return Verkamp has stepped up his game even more with not only his scoring, but his rebounding as well.
Mt Hood: Esyah Pippa-White Esyah Pippa-White 6'2" | PG Gresham | 2023 State OR (2023 Gresham)
At this point in time there are essentially two candidates for POY in the Mt Hood Conference – Barlow’s Jalen Atkins Jalen Atkins 6'2" | SG Barlow | 2025 State OR and Pippa-White. We’re giving the latter the edge due to the fact he’s a senior and while Barlow is in first place, it took a last second shot for them to give Gresham their only league loss. Pippa-White has been outstanding both scoring and passing the basketball and is a big reason why many consider Gresham one of the most dangerous teams around.
Three Rivers League: Jackson Shelstad Jackson Shelstad 6'0" | PG West Linn | 2023 State #55 Nation OR (2023 West Linn)
Not much of a surprise pick here as Shelstad has met all expectations and more as he’s not only excelled individually but taken West Linn to a national ranking, as high as #3 in one poll. The senior point guard is absolutely unstoppable getting to the basket and is not only the odds-on favorite for TRL POY honors again but for the state POY as well.
West Salem: Jackson Leach Jackson Leach 5'10" | PG West Salem | 2024 State OR (2024 West Salem)
The Titans have typically been balanced for the most part but Leach has really started to elevate his game during league play. He’s been a matchup nightmare at the point as the junior has been setting up teammates in addition to getting buckets himself. West Salem is on top at 6-0 in Central Valley Conference play and threatening to run the table.
Southwest: Jackson Weiland Jackson Weiland 6'0" | PG South Medford | 2024 State OR (2024 South Medford)
A case could also be made for talented teammate Boden Howell Boden Howell 6'3" | CG South Medford | 2025 State #394 Nation ID but we’ll give Weiland the nod right now due to his being a year older and the fact he’s been running the show at the point. He’s currently averaging 18 ppg and has stepped it up even more in league action as the Panthers stand an undefeated 5-0 in Southwest Conference play.
