From the opening tip 6'7" sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1297019' first='Dezmon' last='Briscoe'] played with a ton of confidence and got the Tigers going. Despite going against consensus 5-star forward [player_tooltip player_id='868219' first='Xavier' last='Booker'], a Michigan State signee, the talented sophomore took it right at his 6'11" counterpart and won the head-to-head matchup. Briscoe scored eight points in the opening period including a three-pointer from the wing that showcased his expanded offensive game. The sophomore went on to score 16 points in the first half, but Crispus Attucks still trailed Cathedral by one at the break. A big second quarter by sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1525663' first='Brady' last='Koehler'] helped keep the Fighting Irish on top even as Booker and [player_tooltip player_id='868252' first='Jaron' last='Tibbs'] struggled to find their footing without [player_tooltip player_id='868251' first='Jake' last='Davis'] in the lineup.

Coming out of the halftime break the Irish got a big boost from senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='868227' first='Kamari' last='Slaughter'] who scored six points in the third to hold onto to a 43-41 lead. Briscoe was held scoreless in the quarter, but junior guard Ron Rutland picked up the slack adding six points to his total to bring him to 12 on the evening.

After not getting on the board in third, Briscoe jumped right out of the gate with five straight points in the fourth quarter followed by a bucket by Rutland that gave Crispus Attucks a quick 48-43 advantage with about five minutes left to play. [player_tooltip player_id='868219' first='Xavier' last='Booker'] eventually cut the Cathedral deficit to 52-48 with a three-pointer near the top of the key, but that is close as they would get the rest of the way. Sophomore point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1297004' first='Chris' last='Hurt'] scored seven points in the final quarter including an And-1 that sealed the deal with 1:47 left to play. Crispus Attucks would go on to win the Indianapolis City Tournament championship by the score of 61-51.
