Fitzgerald is the definition of an inside-out forward, often starting possessions on the perimeter and then working defenders down into the post. He’s got a really nice touch around the basket, especially on his turnaround jumper. At the rim, Fitzgerald finishes strong through contact and has great body control in the air. Milton has surpassed expectations this year and the play of Seth Fitzgerald Seth Fitzgerald 6’3″ | SG Milton | 2023 State GA is a big reason why.
Bronson Blair Bronson Blair 5’11” | CG Mountain View | 2024 State GA had a solid showing on Saturday as Mountain View gave Milton a serious run for their money. Blair and his backcourt accomplice, Mike White, came out firing and had Mountain View leading for all of the 1st half. Blair is a great shooter and was effective as a spot-up shooter or pulling up off the dribble. He finished the game with 18 points to lead Mountain View and a handful of assists. At the end of the day, Blair wasn’t able to get the upset win but he made his trip to Grayson worthwhile.
David Thomas David Thomas 6’2″ | PG Eagle’s Landing | 2023 State #197 Nation GA was consistently great for 4 quarters in a 66-50 win against Langston Hughes. His 29 points led all scorers and his tough shotmaking ability was on full display. Thomas scored it efficiently from all 3 levels and had some tough finishes at the cup. He got his three ball going in the 3rd quarter, reminding the defense that he’s not the guy to leave open. His teammates feed off his cool confidence and when he’s on the floor, he totally controls the pace of the game. Thomas committed to Mercer a few months back and he’s now fully focused on a state championship run.
While Parkview’s play has been up and down this year, Chasz Holmes Chasz Holmes 5’11” | PG Parkview | 2024 State GA has been a steady presence in the backcourt. He’s a pass-first point guard that doesn’t turn the ball over and plays with a lot of composure. Surrounded by a lot of talent and athleticism, Holmes realizes how he can be most effective. He stepped up when he needed to on Saturday and led Parkview in scoring with 15 points. Holmes knocked down 3 three-pointers on limited attempts and picked up some more points from the line. Ever since coming down from Tennessee, Xavier Shegog Xavier Shegog 6’6″ | PF Mt. Vernon | 2024 State GA has been making his name known in the peach state. He’s been the most consistent and productive player on a talented Mt. Vernon roster this year and I think that he’s really starting to understand how he can be most effective. Shegog played well for Mt. Vernon in an exciting afternoon matchup against 7A Parkview, posting a game-high 18 points. He had some impressive finishes through contact and uses his strong frame well around the rim.
