Soren Anderson Soren Anderson 6'4" | SF Perham | 2023 State MN of Perham (6’5 Sr). When Anderson wasn’t in foul trouble he wa filling out all the different assignments that Perham has for him including moving his feet and keeping his body in front of bigger wings, creating shots for others with quick passes or on the move (6 assists), defensive rebounding, and scoring from the perimeter or on the move (11 points). Solid all around game when fouls didn’t take away from him.
Ian Fahje Ian Fahje 6'8" | C Pelican Rapids | 2023 State MN of Pelican Rapids (6’7 Sr). Fahje isn’t quite what I would call a stretch forward because he is a solid shot blocker (3 in this game) and he is needed at his size to rebound as a five, but he shoots it well enough to have stretch big in his description. Ian made four threes on his way to 19 points but didn’t quite have the scoring game he wanted leaving a few buckets short. Good player though that I would look at as a solid D3 or NAIA option.
Colton Hagen Colton Hagen 6'4" | PG Moorhead | 2023 MN of Moorhead (6’3 Sr). Hagen is a good sized point guard and I loved how he handled the game and paced his team. The Spuds run a high quality half court offense and it’s the first read from Hagen, the direction of Hagen, and his decisions on the return pass possession by possession that really grabbed my attention. He did a great job of leading cutters and entering the ball around the basket plus Colton scored 20 points. Those 20 included three early threes and then six of seven foul shooting late to put away the game.
Mason Hammer Mason Hammer 6'4" | SG Henning | 2023 State MN of Henning (6’4 Sr). Mason Hammer Mason Hammer 6'4" | SG Henning | 2023 State MN is a potential Class A All State talent. He is a skilled, confident, 6’4 wing that scored 24 points in a big game situation on 8 of 14 shooting. Hammer hit a pair of threes early but as the game moved on he did his work on the attack. Hammer forced the Panthers to foul him making five of six late foul shots and getting to his pull-up or the angle for second half scores. For me it’s his confidence and skill level that really stood out as Mason really used the Henning offense to create space patiently and find ways to complete. Very impressed with his approach and ability, he is better than I thought he was.
Treyton Hatfield of Oak Grove (6’4 Sr). Hatfield’s combination of size and skill was just too much for Pelican Rapids to move with. Pelican Rapids would have players quick enough but physically couldn’t match up or players big enough that just couldn’t move with Hatfield. When he was coming down hill in transition or off a one dribble attack he consistently finished. Hatfield made half of his 18 field goal attempts and really did a nice job keeping his balance in contact or high speed attack situations.
Adam Jenkins Adam Jenkins 6'9" | C Moorhead | 2023 State MN of Moorhead (6’9 Sr). Adam’s early game success built a lead that carried the Spuds for a long time. His pair of foul shots, pair of deep paint post scores, and pair of long jumpers (one a three) plus six quick boards and a block laid the ground work for the rest of the day. Moorhead won 57-54 over Duluth East and Adam finished the day with 16 points and 13 boards.
Jobe Juenneman of Duluth East (6’2 Sr). Jobe is one of the hottest shooters in the state of Minnesota right now and even on a day where he was a bit short of where he wanted to be, Jobe sunk six triples and had a buzzer beater come up just short. Scored 22 points for the game and has been incredible from the arc all season long.
Kaydin Lee Kaydin Lee 5'10" | SG Cass Lake-Bena | 2024 MN of Cass-Lake Bena (6’2 Jr). Kaydin might be one of the most explosive players off of a dribble separation move that I have seen all year. And his second move off the initial separation had players falling all over the place. Fouls limited his total effectiveness in half two as he fouled out but Lee’s 15 point first half explosion brought his team back from 19 points down. Lee scored 23 on 8 of 14 shooting.
Aaron Norland of Fosston (5’9 Sr). Aaron made every shot he took on his way to 15 points and dished out five assists. More importantly he paced his team on both ends with the transition push and his ball pressure. Aaron is quick and tough to turn the corner on as his lateral steps cover ground quickly.
Dominic Staples-Fairbanks (5’10 Jr). After a rough start Dominic had two key spurts that helped his team stay within a bucket of Henning including a late three and a late floater. His split of the defense off a ball screen ranks with the best and his feathery touch pull-up is gorgeous. Scored 19 points with five assists.
Micah Thompson Micah Thompson 6'6" | SF Perham | 2023 State MN of Perham (6’5 Sr). Micah has a serious size edge on nearly all players that defend him because most bigs on the Perham schedule can’t move with him. Thompson spent most of his Saturday getting to the front of the rim to score 22 points. The younger Otters weren’t able to get a good contest on Thompson or keep a body in front of him in a way that impeded his goals. Therefore Thompson scored on 6 of 9 shots and made 9 of 11 foul shots.
