There were also a handful of newcomers.
Here are the biggest highlights from the top 10.
Jacob Gazzo Jacob Gazzo 6'8" | C Briarcrest Christian | 2023 State TN debuts inside the top 10
The 6-foot-8 forward debuts at No. 9 and has been a plus for Briarcrest this season, as he’s been a matchup nightmare in the post. Gazzo is skilled to play on the block and score with his back to the basket. The Ole Miss commit can make shots from 15-feet out. He’s very alert on the defensive end and does a great job of altering shots at the rim.
Yates jumps inside the top 10
Fayette Ware’s Damarien Yates has been a double-double machine for the Wildcats this season. He moved up seven spots to No. 7. The 6-7 wing has been unstoppable in the paint and around the free throw line area. His strength and length presents a problem for most teams each night since a lot of them don’t have a player of Yates caliber on the roster.
Brooks enters the top 5
Cleveland’s Jasen Brooks Jasen Brooks 6'1" | PG Cleveland | 2023 State TN moved up five spots to No. 5. The Blue Raiders have one of the most complete guards in this class in Brooks. His mid-range? Consistent. His court vision? Superb. His energy on both ends of the floor? Priceless. The way he’s been playing for Cleveland will have the program in Murfreesboro competing for a Division 1 4A state title.
Frison and Walls stay put in the top 10
Memphis Overton’s Jordan Frison Jordan Frison 6'0" | PG Overton | 2023 State TN sled down to No. 10. He’s the reason the Wolverines have a legitimate chance of winning the Division 1-4A District 16 regular season title this season. Overton can make a case that it has a top two player in the district alongside Whitehaven’s Julius Thedford. So far this season, Frison has been putting up Mr. Basketball-like numbers, averaging 29 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.0 rebounds a game.
Lukas Walls from Knoxville Webb sits at No. 6., and is currently averaging 22 points, eight rebounds and three assists per game for the Spartans. Walls, a Samford commit, is an efficient scorer and a trustworthy teammate each time he steps onto the floor. At 6-4, Walls can play both guard spots, which is a plus, so if his team needs a score, Walls can deliver. If his team needs an assist, Walls comes through like Santa Claus on Christmas.
