Continue ReadingI watched two games this week: Bixby vs Sand Springs and Muskogee vs Union. To start off, Bixby narrowly escaped a resilient Sand Springs team that came ready to play. Bixby has several good commits, including the #2 ranked player in the state: Parker Friedrichsen Parker Friedrichsen 6'4" | SG Bixby | 2023 State #165 Nation OK . Sand Springs has a pretty young roster, only having five seniors listed on the roster. Parker showed every ounce of why he is the #2 ranked prospect in the state, as he was able to perform in front of the Notre Dame coach, where he is committed. The coach got his money worth to say the least. As for the Union and Muskogee game, it was close at halftime, but Union’s phenomenal freshman trio showed to be too much for Muskogee, as they pulled away for an easy victory. This article is the Week 2: Top Rebounders that I witnessed from those two games.
Erik Madrid Erik Madrid 7’1″ | C Union | 2024 State OK is the tallest player in the state of Oklahoma, listed at 7’0, and he knows how too use the size to his advantage. He dominated the boards, as he grabbed one rebound after another. It felt like a regular occurrence for him to grab an offensive rebound and put it back in, sometimes without even jumping. He is not a twig either, as he uses good size to set good ball screens and to overpower his opponents when boxing out. His impact goes beyond the rebounding, as he would score at the rim multiple times, many of them being second chance points. He is a regular double-double machine, as I am pretty sure that he reached that mark in this one. He made a big impact on the defensive end, as he had several good shot contest throughout this one and impacted a high percentage of the shots that were in the paint. He came away with a couple of blocks, as well.
Highlights
Miles Flemons Miles Flemons 6’8″ | PF Union | 2026 State OK was a nonstop motor and rebounding machine for his team. He brought high energy and fought for every rebound. It felt like he was flying all over the place to grab them. He would get into good position and utilize boxing out to get the rebound. I am not sure exactly how many rebounds he ended with, but I am guessing that it was around the 7-9 range. To go along with the rebounds, he also added seven points to his boxscore and a couple of deflections. If you are wanting a guy to do your dirty work and fight for rebounds, this might just be your guy.
Parker Friedrichsen Parker Friedrichsen 6’4″ | SG Bixby | 2023 State #165 Nation OK did it all this game. He scored 40 points and made it look easy while doing it (I wrote about that in the Top Shooters/Scorers article). He got that done in several different ways on the offensive end. One of the ways that he accumulated some of the points was from offensive rebounds. I recorded three offensive rebounds in this one to go along with another three defensive rebounds. I might have missed some, but six total rebounds is what I have in my notes for him. That is impressive for a guard. Off of one of his defensive rebounds, he threw a well placed outlet pass for an assist. His playmaking ability goes beyond just that, as he knows how to drive and kick to open teammates and how to set them up perfectly. He has really good ball handles, so he can run some point guard. His court vision helps him see the game in so many different ways that many players don’t see it. The last area that he impacted was with his defense. He came up with a couple of steals and played great on ball defense. He is an elite player that makes an elite impact every time that he steps on the court.

Kade Holland
Kade Holland
Kade Holland impacted the game in multiple areas for the Sandites. One area that he impacted extremely well was the offensive glass. He attacked the glass with aggressiveness and came away with four offensive rebounds. Rebounding was not the only area that he affected, as he shot 3 for 5 from the field and had seven points. One of his makes was a three pointer. His other two makes was a good backdown that he turned into a post spin for an easy two and a putback off of one of his offensive rebounds.
