Richard Daugherty Richard Daugherty 5'11" | SG Greene County | 2023 State IA (2023), Greene County – Daugherty did all he could for Greene County in a 70-66 loss to Panorama. He accounted for over 50% of the Rams scoring, pouring in 36 points on 11/18 shooting and 6 of 12 from three. To go with his big scoring night, he added 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Daugherty has a smooth, quick release from beyond the arch, while also being able to distribute the ball.
Will Orness Will Orness 6'1" | SG Humboldt | 2023 State IA (2023), Humboldt – Orness led the Wildcats Monday night with a 33-point effort. He had solid shooting splits, going 56.2%/46.2%/90%. He is always ready to shoot and shoots really well in catch-and-shoot situations. Orness added 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal to his stat line as well.
Tuesday Night (12/6) Games
Carter Boettcher Carter Boettcher 6'1" | PG Sioux Central | 2023 State IA (2023), Sioux Central – Boettcher is a solid scorer at all three levels, and he showed it with a 33-point outing in which he went 6 of 12 from three, showed the ability to hit from mid-range, and get to the hoop. In the Rebels blowout win against Alta-Aurelia, he didn’t just score. He showed his ball-handling and passing skills, getting his teammates involved with 6 assists. Boettcher uses his 6’1″ frame and physicality to bring down rebounds, adding 7 to finish a very impressive night.
Jonovan Wilkinson Jonovan Wilkinson 6'2" | SF Roland-Story | 2024 State IA (2024), Roland-Story – The 6’2″ junior posted an impressive stat line last Tuesday in a win against Nevada. Wilkinson is a very athletic and explosive player. He is solid on the defensive end; very good at jumping in passing lanes to get steals. In last Tuesday night’s win, Wilkinson had 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists, in a near triple-double performance. In 2 games thus far, Wilkinson is averaging 17.0 points a game.
Friday Night (12/9) Games
Toryn Severson Toryn Severson 6'4" | SG Madrid | 2025 State IA (2025), Madrid – Ranked 15th in the class of 2025, Severson showed why he’s ranked so highly. In Madrid’s Friday night win over Woodward Granger, Severson displayed his ability to score from anywhere. The sophomore guard exploded for 44 points, shooting the ball at 56.7% and 37.5% from three. He’s also one of the best free-throw shooters in the state, converting on 13 of 15 attempts in last Friday’s game. To round out his impressive scoring night, he had 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Devan Van Wyhe (2023), West Lyon – Van Wyhe paced the West Lyon offense last Friday, scoring 33 points. He did so shooting an impressive 86.7% from the field, and 3 of 4 from deep. He also paced the Wildcats in rebounding with six and added 4 assists and 4 steals. Van Wyhe is a very efficient scorer, takes smart shots, and is very good at running and finishing in transition. Through the first three games of the season, he is averaging 18.7 points a contest and shoots it at a 72.4% clip from the field.
Saturday Night (12/10) Games
Owen Larson Owen Larson 6'1" | PG Estherville Lincoln Central | 2024 State IA (2024), Estherville Lincoln Central – Committed to playing at South Dakota State, Larson had a huge double-double in a close win over Okoboji last Saturday night. Larson accounted for 40 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists. He is very good at rebounding the basketball and throwing perfect outlet passes that lead to easy transition buckets. Larson has a smooth shot from deep and then uses his size, physicality, and touch to score at the hoop. Catch some highlights of his 40-point outing below
