(Pictured) Basketball was always thought to be a big man’s game, though now the game has changed that tweener 6”4-6”9 player seems to be in. Well don’t tell our #1 from the class of 2023 Jayden Reid Jayden Reid 5’10” | PG LuHi | 2023 State #119 Nation NY that tale. Lightning quick he attacks the basket with a purpose. Can stop on a dime and rise above to get off a pull up. Drains threes with a step back or a crossover. Have said this many times but he was one of the best passers of the basketball in high school I have seen. Natural feel and talent for the game makes this young man special.
Are you looking for toughness, fearlessness, grit and oh yea point guard talent look no further then Blaise at #38. He possesses all the skillset that you want from your point guard. A coach on the court. When I saw him as a sophomore he was directing the older guys where to go to get into their spots. So the maturation was already there as a young player. A tenacious on the ball defender. Rebounds really well for his size. Can drop a dime or take you off the dribble. Outstanding shooter from beyond the arc.
David is the highest ranked under 6”0 guard from Long Island. One of top two shooters from beyond the arc on the Island. Comes off of screens tight with hands and feet in position to shoot it. Has a low base with his dribble and is able to get off his jumper with his quick release. Has a very fluid motion. Has shown the ability to stay in front and defend vertically without fouling.
#102 in our class of 2023, Matt is a tremendous shooter coming off a screen. Catch and shoot player can knock down the three with unlimited range. Also very capable of taking his opponent off the bounce. Has good vision and basketball IQ. Excellent handle in traffic.
#108 Jackson Casey Jackson Casey 5’11” | PG Corning-Painted Post | 2023 State NY I expect to shoot up at the next update of our rankings. A coach on the floor. Coach is very comfortable with the ball in Jackson’s hands at any time but especially at the end of games. He makes the right decisions. Plays just as fresh and poised late in the game as if it just started. A facilitator gets his guys in the right spot delivering the ball to help then score. Can score in a variety of ways.
Highlights
Derek is #128 in our 2023 class. On the east end of Long Island he is a top point guard. High skill set. Outstanding shooter from three. Hard to knock off the ball. Low base and quick handle can weave through defenders and get into the lane. Good at drive and kick.
At #146 Dylan was unranked as a sophomore. Even on the Island. But now coaches game plan for him. He is an outstanding shooter from three. He has unlimited range. Always good with the shot off the catch or off the kick out. Now he is excellent with the transition three or getting off his own shot.
