Newell finished with a team-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field helping lead Montverde Academy to a 80-55 win over IMG Academy in the first game of the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference. The 6-8 power forward has had high interest from Georgia, Indiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida and others.
Lockett finished with a game-high 17 points and also reached 1,000 for his career in an 85-25 win over Ruskin Christian. Through the first 2 games of the season, Lockett is averaging 17.0 points per game. He is receiving interest from Youngstown State as well as other mid-major programs.
The 6-9 freshman power forward recorded a triple-double, as he finished with 14 points, 14 rebounds and 12 blocked shots helping lead North Tampa Christian to a 75-35 win over All Saints’ Academy. Through the first four games of the season, Bryant is averaging 20.0 points and 15.3 rebounds per game. Bryant has received offers from Florida State and NJIT.
Cason, a 6-2 junior point guard recorded his second double-double in his first three games finishing with 33 points and 10 rebounds to help lead Victory Christian Academy to a 86-61 win over Kathleen. Cason also reached the 1,000 career point milestone and is averaging 32.6 points per game through the first three games this season.
Highlights
The 5-8 senior point guard led the way with 19 points to help Lake Worth get the 83-63 win over Centennial. He has had a proficient start to his senior season scoring in double figures in each of their first three games this season. Lake Worth is back in action on Saturday against a talented Pembroke Pines Charter in the Kreul Classic.
