Continue ReadingThe latest rankings for the class of 2024 dropped last week with some subtle changes. In our observation, Louisiana has one of the more talented top 10 classes in the country and thus far they have played like it. In this Prep Hoops Louisiana exclusive, we will take a look at the top ten players in the class. This class is drawing a lot of eyes and is one that is worthy of being observed by coaches across the country.
1. Kameron Williams Kameron Williams 6'7" | SF Lafayette Christian | 2024 State #60 Nation LA (6’7″ / Lafayette Christian)
Williams is the most versatile player in the class and he performs on the hardwood in that manner. He is a three level scorer who has routinely put up double-doubles during the season. Williams may not be an explosive leaper but he does the dirty work scoring and rebounding in the paint as well. He is definitely well-rounded player.
2. Trey’Dez Green Trey’Dez Green 6'8" | PF Zachary | 2024 State #54 Nation LA (6’7″ / East Feliciana)
No one has the motor that Green has. He routinely outplayed his peers during the summer because he never stops moving when his team is on offense. Green is practically a lock to score 16 feet in. If he misses a mid-range jumper, he usually tracks it down to try again. His activity makes him one of the hardest players to guard in the Boot.
3. Todd Jones Todd Jones 6'8" | PF Newman | 2024 State #185 Nation LA (6’8″ / Newman)
Jones is one of the best rim runners that I have seen in recent history. He is very good at providing an excellent target for guards to pass to. Jones can also score with his back to the basket over each shoulder and he is a shot blocker as well. He can change a game defensively or offensively.
4. Jeremiah Evans Jeremiah Evans 6'10" | C Southwood | 2024 State #249 Nation LA (6’9″ / Southwood)
Evans is a combination of the three players above him when he is locked in. Evans can handle the ball, shoot from beyond the arc, rebound in bunches, and score with his back to the basket. He basically has every weapon known to man in his arsenal. His skill set is one many teams on the next covet.
5. Kohen Rowbatham Kohen Rowbatham 6'1" | CG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State LA (6’1″ / Northshore)
Rowbatham is a relentless, attacking guard who can score it on multiple levels. This summer, he gave teams the blues because they could not stop him from getting to the cup. Kohen absorbs contact better than most guards who are upperclassmen and finishes plays with a positive outcome. He is as tough a cover as they come on the high school level.
6. Jayce Depron Jayce Depron 7'5" | CG Madison Prep | 2024 State LA (6’4″ / Madison Prep)
Depron is one of the most talent players in this class. His athleticism allows him to play above the rim on the offensive end while being a very good defender on the other end. During the summer, Depron showed improved range behind the arc which made him even more dangerous. He is a player who is very attractive for the next level.
7. Jordan Moore Jordan Moore 6'4" | CG Hahnville | 2024 State LA (6’2″ / Shaun Dumas)
Moore is a walking highlight reel when he plays in the open floor. He is probably the best transition finisher in the class and is also a high level defender. While he is more of a streak shooter from behind the arc, he can definitely get hot from there. Moore is a two-way player who is explosive on the hardwood.
8. Turner Duncan Turner Duncan 6'3" | PG St. Augustine | 2024 State LA (6’3″ / St. Augustine)
Duncan is the closest thing to a pure point guard in the top end of this class. He can play pass first and distribute with the best of them. Duncan is very creative on the offensive end, however. He can penetrate to score and he can shoot it from behind the arc. Duncan is the most complete guard in this class.
9. Wayne Randall-Bashay Wayne Randall-Bashay 6'4" | SF New Iberia | 2024 State LA (6’4″ / New Iberia)
Whether it is offense or defense, Wayne plays both on a high level. Defensively, he can switch on everything and has the length to contest or block all shots in the half court. Offensively, Randall-Bashay is good at using his defense to create offense and he is very good in transition. He can facilitate the offense and score multiple ways inside the arc. He is as multi-faceted as they come.
10. Allen Graves Allen Graves 6'9" | PF Ponchatoula | 2024 State LA (6’7″ / Ponchatoula)
Graves has grown into the perfect stretch four. He is a marksman from the corner three and has grown in his game putting the ball on the deck. Graves is also very good at rebounding and he can score in the paint. His growth as a player is off the dribble is why he has broken into the top ten. He is a player with a wealth of potential.
The Christmas holidays will bring about more tournaments that will introduce these players to the masses. Because these players are highly-talented, they will be good to see during this time.
