Salesian Prep defeated Campolindo in the title game on Saturday night. Here we put together a second 10 of prospects who played well in Gridley.
Jordan Espinoza 6’3 2024 Guard from Clovis North. He’s a solid scrappy type of player that doesn’t mind mixing it up on a team full of scrappers. At 6’3 he’ll put his body on the line working for charges and playing through contact inside. He worked hard on the defensive side, while being a steady contributor on offense. He scores inside with cuts, hits the outside shot. 13ppg.
Mehki Thomas Mehki Thomas 6'4" | SG Dublin | 2023 State CA-N 6’5 2023 Guard from Dublin. He’s emerged as a key contributor on this team. He put in good work going after rebounds, most notably on the offensive side, converting on the put back. He did some ball handling on the perimeter, initiated the offense on occasion. He did well filling the lanes in transition, he bought it up a few times. He averaged 10.6 ppg.
Alvin Loving Alvin Loving 6'4" | SF Salesian College Preparatory | 2025 State #343 Nation CA-N 6’3 2025 Guard from Salesian Prep. He’s slimmed down a bit, and moving well on the court. He’s a threat to hit the 3ptr in the corner. He had the hot hand in game one leading Salesian to a victory with two 3’s and 16pts. He averaged 9.6, converting on strong drives into the paint. He played good team defense, trapping and helping to force turnovers. He’ll help rebound.
Jasir Rencher Jasir Rencher 6'6" | SF Archbishop Riordan | 2025 State #77 Nation CA-N 6’5 2025 Guard from Archbishop Riordan. A good athlete who looks like a basketball player. He’s a rising prospect in the 2025 class with a couple of DI offers. He’s sharpened his overall skill set for the guard position. His improved 3pt shooting, handles in the open court, and passing are becoming guard like. He defends multiple positions and out on the perimeter. He rebounds. 11ppg.
George Gale George Gale 6'4" | SF Branson | 2023 State CA-N 6’6 2023 forward from The Branson. He bounced back after scoring just 6pts in the opening game loss to the runner up Campolindo. In the games we saw he had plenty of energy, and bounce going after blocks and rebound. He produced a couple of baseline dunks. His scoring inside is improved, and he can hit the corner 3. He went on to score 10, and 19 in a win over Dublin. He made the All-tournament team in Gridley. 11.6ppg
Ahmaree Muhammad 5’10 2023 PG from Oakland Tech. He’s one of the toughest guards you’ll find in NorCal. He leads the team in scoring. He’s been a productive prospect working on or off the ball. He’s a quality passer, but can get buckets in different ways. He’s a good defender when locked in.
Jaylen Bryant 6’3 2023 Post from Clovis North. Standing only 6’3 he serves as Clovis North man in the middle. He’s been playing post for a while now. He’s quite active with good bounce going after rebounds and blocks. In one stretch of a game he blocked 5 shots in 3 minutes. He has to defend bigs all the time, he doesn’t foul out much. He has hands to catch, and finish around the basket. Probably the leading shot blocker at this event.
Jalen Stokes Jalen Stokes 6'5" | SF Dublin | 2025 State #281 Nation CA-N 6’4 2025 Guard from Dublin. He put together good back to back games. He’s finding ways to be productive on the court not just scoring. He hit the mid-range jumper at the top. He’s a bit stronger, and doing a good job going after rebounds. He had his share of rebound put backs. He dropped a couple of 3’s in the corner, and he’s doing a good job of filling lanes in transition. He’s defending multiple positions. He was the teams second leading scorer at this tournament with 12.3. He went for 20 in one game.
Amani Johnson Amani Johnson 6'3" | CG Salesian Prep | 2024 State CA-N 6’3 2024 Guard from Salesian Prep. He went for 16pts in the opening game, averaged 8.3ppg for the tournament. He hit 4 3ptrs in game 1, he drove it with force to the rim on balance. The one thing you can count on from Johnson is his commitment on the defensive side of the ball. He’s one of NorCal’s toughest on ball defenders, he’ll make you work for points. He’s good at helping and trapping as well.
Finley Keefe 6’5 2023 G/F from The Branson. He’s a lengthy arm prospect. Who does the basics screening, passing. He’s a good court runner. He and Gale find each other cutting to the basket well from different angles, setting up a few baseline dunks. He has good vision and passing skills. He can handle in transition and along the perimeter. He’s tasked with defending bigger players at times. He’s a contributor on a good team. His value may not show up in the scorebook. 7.6 ppg
