Having watched Dean play for sometime now he is being guarded by centers and power forwards. That is usually bad news for other teams because Dean is just a tall guard. He is taking them out in the perimeter and although he might not be crossing everyone up from out there just being in the perimeter and pulling those bigs out really opens up things for teammates to drive and kick or his man suck in and he is out in the perimeter hitting three’s and jumpers. He also beats his defender down the court almost always. His development and understanding of the game is really becoming second nature.
This is odd to say but Brayden looks better playing out of state and it’s probably because tehre are more players his heighthe can play against. Last night he had himself a big defensive game. He was getting hammered all night and those refs were not doing him any favors. He sure took it out on the opposing team on the defensive end. I mean he probably had 10 blocks maybe even 15 as he was just getting challenged and he was answering the call. Had three blocks in like 6 secinds as the opposing team didn’t learn their lesson. Team really needs him on the floor the entire game regardless if he can score because he is such a presence in the paint on both ends and he demands the defensive team to collapse. This creates open lanes for his team to cut to the basket and open shooters on the opposite or help side. Really interesting talent. Would love to see him play at an NJCAA team and get better and develop some more.
Jaxon had a bounce back game as he was shooting the ball well and just doing his thing. Jaxon at times gets a bit stuck down on the block with their motion offense. When he is roaming in and out he gets chances to score outside in which is sometimes more suited for him than inside out. He hit three 3-pointers in a win against a tough California team. A lot of upside as he has he could jump in that weight room and gain like 20 lbs. and continue to work on his quickness on the perimeter but recruiters are really liking that upside and room left to grow.
Mason has been playing well out in Vegas. Win’s aren’t coming often but he is putting up good numbers. They are improving and he is moving the ball and getting others involved. Look for him and the squad to be much improved when they return to Utah.
