In the middle of the season we're seeing maturity, growth, and development from players we expected and some we did not. Lets take a look at whose been feeling like summer time in December.

[player_tooltip player_id='1678260' first='Jason' last='Scott'] - Westbury Christian Class of 2025 6'2

This sophomore guard have leaped high figuratively and literally. Leading his team in scoring averaging 20 ppg according to Maxpreps, Scoot is built to be an athletic scoring peace from the inside or outside. He made some noise across twitter this past summer flying at the rim and Wildcat Madness jumping over three teammates. He attacks the rim when in real aggressive scoring mode, but doesn't force shots. A team player that gets his shot through the offense. Leads his team in blocks this season (1.4) along with averaging 1.9 steals per game which is second on his team. Does keep a low tight handle on the ball. Doesn't really say too much just goes out and play. Communicates with his team in-between calls. The key to his game will be knowing when he needs to get going for his team or find the mismatch. Loads of potential in this one.

T'John Brown- 5'10 Kimball High School Class of 2023

Brown is like a by far one of the top unsigned seniors in the state of Texas right now. Some considered him the best on-ball defender in the state. His on-all defense is just the cherry on top, this is a two-way floor athletic floor general. The shiftiness and pace he plays with makes it harder for defenders to stay in front. Have patience in letting the pick-n-roll develop. Posesse an IQ with his game knowing the soft spots in opponents defense. His vision matches his passing skills; Brown can pass with either hand. He plays with a burning fire inside him. Encourages all the smoke from any opponent.

[player_tooltip player_id='787339' first='Orlando' last='Horton'] Jr. - 5'10 Clear Falls High School Class of 2023

The hottest unsigned senior right now. I seen him drop 41 points on #5 Booker T. Washington in HISD tournament championship game. Over a six-game stretch Horton average 29.6 ppg, 6.5 apg, 7.1 rpg, and 4 spg. Playing unbelievable well have earned him another offer from the SWAC conference Prairie View A&M. Plays with the confidence of a 6'9 big. Loves when the defense talks to him that turn his game up even more, and embraces late game moments. Defenders can get dazed with his fast dribbling moves. Have great timing when using his euro steps. He also knows how to finish at the rim agains bigger defenders. Horton gets down low for rebounds on the defensive end. Can shoot the three ball off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id='1125964' first='Dink' last='Pate'] - 6'8 Pinkston High School Class of 2024

Dink is special because he actually is a 6-foot 8-inch point guard who playa with a calm demeanor. You can catch him smiling hard enjoying the game he loves to play. Smooth skilled big guard that plays with a burning fire inside him. A team player that wants all his teammates to succeed. Pate can get to rim in less steps than most. Can score off the dribble or off the ball. Looks to push the ball any opportunity the defense gives him. Keep his eyes looking forward when pushing the tempo to kick the ball up the floor creating easy scoring chances for his team. He fills the stat sheet with his effort for winning

Some impressive stat lines from games below:

Flower Mound: 28 pts 12 reb 10 assists

Reed Odell - 6'6 Tomball Memorial High School Class of 2023

You might have seen his name on the gridiron commanding the Wildcat offense, but on the hardwood Odell is the anchor for the undefeated Wildcats. Caught him in action against Aldine finishing with seven blocks in the game. His timing for the block attempt is what sets him apart. Made his presence known early in the game, even blocking a jumpshot attempt. He's more of a forward with his built and skill, but playing the role of a big for his team. Already on a good shooting team, he sets hard off-ball screens for those shooters to get open. Operates in the high post effectively, can improve making quicker reads out of the high post.
