Strong frame with good footwork around the hoop. Has a nice combination of power and touch around the basket. One of the better pure rebounders in the state regardless of class snatching them in traffic with his strong hands and is a brick wall defensively in the paint. We caught up with Webber after his team played recently at the Team Rose Shootout to discuss their early season.
“We have had to deal with a little adversity with our best guard being injured. I think it gives other guys a chance to come out and play and when Braylon comes back it will allow them to be ready to step up.”
Going up a talented Hillcrest team with another top 10 prospect was a good test for Webber who scored 14 points and grabbed double digit boards.
“It was a good atmosphere and fun atmosphere. Obviously, that’s a really talented team. We did the best we could.”
What schools are involved in his recruitment?
“The three that offered me along with Belmont, Toledo, Iowa I have been talking with.”
We then dove into each of his three offers beginning with Bradley.
“I like their coach. I like their program. I think he knows what he is talking about. I like their program and how they play. I have seen them play a little bit.:
Illinois State has made him a priority target.
“It is in my hometown so it is easy to go over and watch practices and games. The atmosphere is great over there. They play well.”
Southern Illinois has a lot of ties to Webber as well.
“I have seen a few games. I like their programs and coaches and the way they play.”
What is his timetable for a decision?
“I am going to play it out. I am not sure when I am going to make a decision. Probably during my senior year.”
