On a team filled with talented perimeter scorers, Patton isn’t asked to do much scoring for the Norsemen, but he fills his role as a rebounder well. He’s pulling down nearly as many defensive rebounds (8.7) a game as he scores points (8.8), and his work on the offensive glass (5.5 a game) is huge for a team that has as much shooting as they do.
2.) 2024 Dayson Leerhoff (Pleasantville) – 13.1
An athletic 6-3 combo forward who can occasionally stretch the floor, Leerhoff is at his best when he’s playing closer to the rim and using his size and athleticism to finish through contact at the bucket. He’s averaging a team-high 19.7 points in addition to his stellar work on the glass.
3.) 2023 Caden Kirkman Caden Kirkman 6'8" | PF Wilton | 2023 State IA (Wilton) – 12.0
Arguably the most talented player in 2A basketball, Kirkman is a dynamic 6-8 big man who dominates games on both ends of the floor, averaging 30.9 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.6 blocks on 69-28-69 shooting splits to go with his huge rebounding numbers. A nimble big man who can do a little bit of everything, he’ll be playing his college ball at Augustana (SD), where he’ll have a chance to be an immediate impact player.
4.) 2023 Jacob Hargens Jacob Hargens 6'2" | PG Sioux Central | 2023 State IA (Sioux Central) – 11.8
A physically imposing 6-3 power wing, Hargens has put up some ridiculous numbers for the Rebels this season, averaging 30.4 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.4 steals a game for a high-powered attack that is averaging nearly 74 points a game. He’s a powerful, athletic wing who uses his strength to bully his way to the bucket, but he’s also a talented shooting threat who can torch teams from behind the arc. He uses his bounce to his advantage on the glass, skying over opposing players to snatch boards out of nowhere.
5.) 2025 Conall Sauser Conall Sauser 6'3" | SF Oelwein | 2025 State IA (Oelwein) – 11.7
Sauser has been excellent as a sophomore for the Huskies, leading the team in scoring (14.4), rebounding, and steals (2.3) while shooting over 51% from the floor. A 6-3 wing who can score inside and out, he has been especially strong on the offensive glass, pulling down over four offensive boards a game.
6.) 2024 Jack Vanfossan (Underwood) – 11.4
The Eagles are off to a strong 6-1 start and the 6-3 Vanfossan is a huge reason why. He has pulled down over twice as many rebounds as any other player on the roster, and he’s stuffing the stat sheet in an incredibly efficient way, posting 59-50-56 shooting splits with 3.3 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.7 blocks a game.
7.) 2024 Preston Ries Preston Ries 6'1" | SF Monticello | 2024 State IA (Monticello) – 10.7
Ries is one of the best athletes in the state, committed to play football at Iowa. A powerful, athletic combo forward who uses his explosive leaping to dominate on the glass, Ries is also a big-time scorer who is putting up 22.0 points a game. His ability to score inside and out and use his athleticism to control games on both ends of the floor is huge for a Panthers team that entered the season with incredibly high expectations.
8.) 2024 Brooks Moore Brooks Moore 6'5" | SF Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont | 2024 State IA (Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont) – 10.7
Moore is a long, athletic wing who uses his length effectively on the glass, pulling down nearly four offensive rebounds a game for the Rockets, a potent offensive team. The 6-5 wing loves to get out in transition and is one of the best dunkers in the state, someone who looks to throw it down at every opportunity.
9.) 2023 Jack Scrivner Jack Scrivner 6'2" | PF Central Decatur | 2023 State IA (Central Decatur) – 10.4
An efficient 6-5 big man who leads the Cardinals in scoring (14.6) in addition to his rebounding prowess, Scrivner is shooting 56% from the floor to pace an attack that features four double-figure scorers. He’s a mobile big man with really good hands and touch around the rim.
10.) 2023 Bryson Zomer (Rock Valley) – 10.4
The defending 2A champions lost nearly everything from last year’s roster, so they needed someone to step up and be a leader, which is exactly what Zomer has done, averaging a team-high 17.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists a game. A skilled 6-4 forward who is shooting 50% from the floor, he has good hands and touch around the rim.
