Tuesday night featured the quarterfinal games at the Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic. PHI dives into the four contests and prospects that made noise in Hinsdale Central: Tuesday Notebook!

Oswego East Advances Over Stevenson

In the first quarterfinal Oswego East slowly kept expanding their lead over Stevenson throughout the game winning by a final of 56-39. Their point guard [player_tooltip player_id='939075' first='Bryce' last='Shoto'] is back and he makes a huge difference for this squad. In the early going Shoto dropped three from beyond the arc. Shoto is a smaller guard that can knock down shots, get in the lane for floaters, and make sound decisions with the ball. He had 17 points. Their star 2023 prospect Towson commit [player_tooltip player_id='1215289' first='Mekhi' last='Lowery'] wowed with his passing in this game. He made a pair of on the point passes to cutters that were flat out spectacular in the flow of the offense. Also threw a full length outlet right under the basket off a defensive rebound. Explosive finisher around the hoop and is a versatile defender checking multiple spots. His line read 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 steals. Really like what we saw from [player_tooltip player_id='1157349' first='Jehvion' last='Starwood'] in the second half as the 2024 highly ranked two guard ripped off a huge run of points with threes and layups on cuts finishing with 14 points.

Stevenson was led in scoring by [player_tooltip player_id='1541237' first='Jack' last='Dabbs'] who had 9 points coming off the bench. Dabbs is a 2024 wing that works well from 15 foot and in with spin moves in the post and mid-range jumpers. [player_tooltip player_id='1285482' first='Christian' last='Uremovich'] had 7 points and 7 rebounds finishing a couple dump offs and hitting a spot up three.

DePaul Prep Too Much vs Morgan Park

The next game it looked like Morgan Park was primed to pull off an upset with a quick spurt to begin the game. DePaul Prep settled in and during the second half extended their lead to win 64-42. Class of 2023 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1113517' first='Maurice' last='Thomas'] got them going knocking in an array of triples in the victory. Plus shooter from the lead guard spot that will be a nice fit at the small college level. He had 16 points (4-5 3PT). Like the upside of 2025 four man [player_tooltip player_id='1385297' first='Jonas' last='Johnson']. Skilled face up power forward that can shoot from mid-range and finishes with a soft touch around the basket. He had 10 points and 8 rebounds. In the second half it was another sophomore that took over as 2025 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1385311' first='Robert' last='Walls'] asserted himself with his shot making from three along with quickness when the rock is in his hands. Walls finished the game with 15 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals.

Morgan Park got off to a fast start from their senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1476140' first='Orlando' last='James']. We saw him over the summer have a nice showing and the scoring guard had it going again hitting a pair of threes including one where he was fouled for a four point play. SPlays the game with athleticism and flair although the flashy passing did lead to 8 turnovers. He had 9 points.

Marian Catholic Advances in Tight Contest Against Rockford Auburn

Just like the game before the underdog got out early with some hot shooting as Rockford Auburn looked to spring the upset. [player_tooltip player_id='1371065' first='Quentin' last='Jones'] and Marian Catholic would have none of it as the Cal Poly commit elevated his game carrying his team to a win 54-49. Jones is a big wing with great size, strength, and athleticism. Legit three level scoring threat that can knock in shots from mid-range, three, and use his burst to get to the cup. Also got a dunk in transition off a steal. The top 25 senior had 21 points in the victory. Sleeper senior Donovan Juzang has had a very productive junior campaign. Two guard with a rangy build is a great third scorer for this team. He hits open shots and uses his athleticism in the open floor as he netted 17 points.

Rockford Auburn was led by [player_tooltip player_id='1537983' first='Adrian' last='Agee']. The senior is a ranked prospect that lived up to it with 18 points in this one showing a clean jumper to go with nice athleticism at the combo guard spot. Worthy of consideration for small colleges. [player_tooltip player_id='1874864' first='Rakim' last='Chaney'] also had a nice outing as the Auburn guard hit a trio from deep for 15 points. Watch out for 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1845353' first='Amir' last='Danforth']. Related to Fred Van Vleet this young guard has long arms and is a creative ball handler. Can hit an open three finishing with 7 points.

Hinsdale Central Wins Behind D and Skilled Four….Shocker

Year after year you can count on two things from Hinsdale Central. They will play tough as nails team defense and they will have a skilled four that puts up buckets. Both are true this year helping carry them to a 70-58 win against Homewood Flossmoor to advance to the semis. Michigan baseball commit Ben Oosterbaan is quite a good hooper as well. The face up big man can shoot it from the mid-post, put it on the deck, and has a go to spin move on the block as he had 30 points. Rebounds in his area and anchors their defense with his athleticism protecting the rim. They got shot making on the perimeter from Patrick Graham and [player_tooltip player_id='1048381' first='Chase' last='Collignon'] is such a gritty undersized forward for this team who rebounds, scores in the paint, and plays great defense.

Homewood Flossmoor 2024 6'3” shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1488791' first='Carson' last='Brownfield'] is a crafty bucket getter that does most of his damage in the paint and at the line. Tough posting up smaller defenders. Went for 23 points. Keep an eye out for 2025 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1774274' first='Jayden' last='Tyler'] with his shooting at the point guard spot as he showed some upside.
