Player Comments
Sam Glandt Sam Glandt 6'2" | SG West Fargo | 2026 State ND – He has started the year playing very well. Glandt typically plays 1 half of C and 2 of JV on most nights. He played his first varsity minutes the other night against Valley City. Sam has had some big scoring games for the Packers and he does not look like a 9th grader out there. He fits in well with the older players and has taken on a bit of a leadership role. Sam “The Show” Glandt is a skilled player, has a high IQ, and attacks the basket will authority. This lefty is a potent offensive weapon with a bright future.
Carter Evanson Carter Evanson 6'2" | SG Horace | 2026 State ND – In his first varsity game, Carter “Easy Money” Evanson went off for 6 triples and 18 points against Wahpeton. We call him Easy Money because his shot is easy/effortless and he is money from beyond the arc. Carter leads all Class A freshmen in North Dakota with 8.7 ppg. I watched him play the other night vs. #4 Red River and Evanson nailed two 3-balls. His second triple was from the VB line! You can tell that Evanson is young because of his size, but skill wise he fits right in. This kid is a relentless worker. Big things are to come for Easy Money!
Jack Dieterle Jack Dieterle 6'7" | C Valley City | 2026 State ND – He is a top BIG in this class. His size is impressive and he can make some splashy plays. Dieterle has been the most productive post-player for Valley City. He has a ton of potential on the defensive side of the floor and he knows what he is doing on the court. Jack is going to be a special player. As the year goes on, look for him to improve on battling in the pain vs. the upperclassmen.
Brylee Bears Tail Brylee Bears Tail 6'3" | SF Mandan | 2026 State ND – Like his brother, Brylee is playing 2 halfs of JV and 1 on varsity. Brylee has played 18 minutes of varsity action in 2 games. He has not scored yet but that will be coming soon enough. Much like his brother, Brylee is long and skilled. The Braves play a fast-paced and up-tempo style of basketball and Brylee thrives in that style of game. He has a high IQ and possesses a great feel for the game. Brylee is a 3-level scorer and a versatile defender. Like the others in this article, Brylee has a bright future. With his length, athleticism, and impressive intangibles, Bears Tail has a high ceiling.
Garrett Nissley Garrett Nissley 6'3" | CG Bismarck Century | 2026 State ND – He is the JV varsity point guard and is having a very nice start to his high school career. Century’s team is stacked and Nissley plays behind varsity guys that have been playing up there for multiple years. Garrett battles every day in practice against elite competition. As a young player, he has a great feel and he knows when to pass and when to shoot. Nissley is an improving defender that is getting smart about using his length. As he matures and adds strength, Garrett will really see his game blossom. Nissley comes from a basketball family, is a gym rat, and will keep improving.
Chris Benning Chris Benning 5'10" | SG St. Mary's | 2026 State ND – He is averaging 7.6 ppg and is the leading scorer in the WDA when it comes to freshman. The Young Benning has been impressive this season for the Saints. Benning has 7 three-pointers on the year and is tied for the most made on the team. Chris is averaging 17.5 minutes per game. I watched the young lefty against Shanley and you could tell that Benning is skilled and has a good feel for the game. Chris is absolutely an up-and-comer to keep tabs on in the WDA.
Rylee Bears Tail Rylee Bears Tail 6'3" | SG Mandan | 2026 State ND – In varsity action, Rylee is 3-3 on FG’s and 3-5 from the free-throw line. Rylee has played a total of 12 minutes on varsity in the two games that Mandan has played so far. On a typical night, Rylee plays 2 halfs of JV and 1 on varsity. At 6’3′ Rylee is a long guard with impressive skill. I watched him play late this fall and was impressed. Bears Tail is a great passer and can score with jumpers, floaters, and at the rim. The Braves have to be excited about Rylee’s skill, length, and potential.
Boston Cranston Boston Cranston 6'0" | PG Dickinson | 2026 State ND – This youngster is a heady floor general and a tough perimeter defender. Cranston has been playing 1 half of C and 2 on JV. That could potentially change after Christmas. Boston is very difficult for opposing guards to defend. He has been outstanding at attacking and getting to the cup. When defenders make a mistake and give Mr. Cranston space, he has been knocking them down.
Kyler Kudrna Kyler Kudrna 6'3" | PF Dickinson | 2026 State ND – He scored his first varsity points this season against Glendive (MT). On most nights, Kyler plays 1 half of C and 2 on JV. As we mentioned above, that could change after the holiday break, time will tell.. Kudrna already has 2 dunks this season and has shown the ability to rebound on both ends. Kyler finishes very well on the rim. He is an exciting player to keep track of on the western side of the state.
Jake Kraft Jake Kraft 6'0" | SG Shanley | 2026 State ND – He is known as a smooth youngster with a great jump shot. I watched him in the first game of the season and Jake was getting varsity minutes. I like his confidence and he did not hesitate to take an open shot. Most freshmen would be hesitant or afraid to look for scoring in their first varsity game. Not Kraft, he knows that he is a good shooter and he wants to help his team score. Kraft is one of the better up-and-coming shooters in the EDC.
