First, we will be revealing who we think are the top point guards in the event. This year’s City of Palms Classic will take place December 16 through December 21 at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers.
The 6-2 senior guard Jared McCain Jared McCain 6’3″ | PG Centennial | 2023 State #24 Nation CA-S is off to a good start to his senior season. The Duke commit is one of the best catch and shoot players in this year’s event. Not only is he a great shooter, but he can also facilitate and is a dynamic playmaker. You can catch McCain and the rest of his Centennial Huskies squad on Saturday against Winter Haven in the Opening Round of the 49th Annual Culligan City of Palms Classic.
The 6-3 senior guard is off to an efficient start for a veteran-led Newton Rams squad. The Indiana signee is very flashy and athletic when the basketball is in his hands. Newton will be in action on Friday, as they take on a talented Lake Highlands (Texas) squad in the Opening Round of the 49th Annual Culligan City of Palms Classic.
The 6-3 senior point guard held 15 offers during his recruitment process before signing with the USC Trojans. Collier is the top ranked player in the state of Georgia, and is among one of the top ranked prospects in the nation for the senior class. He is one of the toughest two-way guards you will see in this event. Not only does he have great scoring ability, but he is also considered to be an underrated rebounder and passer. Wheeler will tip-off against Tampa Catholic in the nightcap on Friday at the 49th Annual Culligan City of Palms Classic.
The 6-5 senior guard is still uncommitted but that hasn’t stopped how his senior season is going so far. Nicholson has received offers from Missouri State, SIU-Edwardsville and Southeast Missouri State. He will be a huge threat on the perimeter as he shot 48 percent from beyond the arc as a junior last season leading the Vashon Wolverines to a state championship. Vashon will take on Archbishop Stepinac (New York) in the first game of the 49th Annual Culligan City of Palms Classic on Friday at 2:30 p.m. eastern time.
The 6-5 junior guard is the top ranked prospect in the state of Texas and some can argue maybe even the country. Johnson holds offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Duke, Texas and several others. Johnson has had 25 or more points in each of the last three games. You can catch Johnson and his Lake Highlands squad in the second game of the 49th Annual Culligan City of Palms Classic, as they will host Newton High School (Georgia) on Friday at 4:15 p.m. eastern time.
