Mesquite won the 4A State Championship last year and a few players graduated. They will look to make another deep 4A run. The Basha Bears have a top-5 6A team and come in with some young talent. I got there early to take a look at both programs youth.
Here were the standouts from the Freshman game:
Jack Raslavsky Jack Raslavsky 6'7" | C Basha | 2026 State AZ Basha
A long armed post player with decent size, huge feet and big hands. He runs the court fairly well and will rebound in his area and block shots. He consistently keeps the play alive on the glass. He has a nice FT touch. He is all upside at this point.
Bryson Krueger II Bryson Krueger II 6'2" | SF Basha | 2026 State AZ Basha
A long and lean wing forward. He can catch and shoot from the three point line and plays the passing lanes on defense. He made a nice up the court pass for the assist that caught my eye. He will fill in eventually and he seems like he should keep growing.
Aidan Grant Aidan Grant 5'10" | SG American Leadership Academy Gilbert North | 2026 State AZ Basha (Pictured)
A natural scorer has a good feel for the game. He hesitates and freezes his defender to get to the basket to score. He likes mostly going right but has a good IQ. He will defend his position up the court and has no fear taking the ball straight at the post players.
Oliver Rogers PG 5’5 2026 Mesquite
An undersized pure point guard is a deep sniper. The lefty has volleyball line range and he actually hit five triples. He has a super quick release and he works well off the pick and roll game. He found a few post players for dimes and sees the court well.
Here were the standouts from the JV game:
Adrian Serrano Adrian Serrano 6'6" | C Mesquite | 2026 State AZ Mesquite
A almost 6’5, he has nice size and moves fairly well. He projects out as a face-up five-man long term with added growth. A very good passer out of the high post who can step out and shoot the three. He blocks shots, he has good hands to rebound in traffic. Nice hook shot with dominant right hand.
Crew Jorde Crew Jorde 5'7" | PG Mesquite | 2026 State AZ Mesquite
An undersized lefty point guard has some shift with his handle. He likes the floater and will let the game come to him and won’t force anything. He can hit the catch three and gives good ball fakes with a hesitation and will pull-up from mid-range.
Kobe Bradley Kobe Bradley 5'10" | PG Mesquite | 2025 State AZ Mesquite
A long and lean scoring point guard. He moves around the court smoothly and he has a nice stroke from the 3pt line. The left handed guard actually got some run on varsity and will be a bigger part next year.
Marcus Ward Marcus Ward 5'10" | SG Mesquite | 2025 State AZ Mesquite
Another JV scoring guard who played on varsity. He has one of the prettier strokes in the program. He has a super quick release and can pull-up off the dribble from mid-range and catch and shoot from the three point line. He has plus length to defend and he could be one of their leaders in points next year on varsity.
Kaleb Seow CG 5’11 2026 Basha
A combo guard who handles the lead guard role for their junior varsity team. He has a shifty handle with patience and is always looking up to facilitate. He has deep three point range and makes good reads. He is one to watch.
Drew Alexander Drew Alexander 6'1" | SG Basha | 2025 State AZ Basha
A defensive shooting guard with long arms and a nice touch on his jumper. He plays with a good motor and will get on the glass with his quick second jump. He has natural instincts to defend and made a few impressive passes.
