#1 Parody
Although there are a few teams out there that seem like they could win almost all of their games against Utah schools there have been some close calls. Fremont had AF on the ropes as they were one stop, a few free-throws away from a big upset. Region 3 is down this year and anyone can take that region as Riverton has shown and even Mountain Ridge. Hillcrest knocks off Herriman and then Herriman beat a good Cottonwood team. Timpview is out there smacking big time Utah teams. This year is going to be exciting.
#2 Class of 2026 is Elite
The list continues to grow as we are seeing a big time youth movement from this Class of 2026. In a way we wish more of the youngsters would play that have talent as we can watch them grow but every program seems to have their own way of getting players on the floor. Jamyn Sondrup Jamyn Sondrup 6'10" | C Springville | 2026 State UT , Anthony Felesi Anthony Felesi 6'6" | CG Utah Prep | 2026 State UT , Isaiah Drisdom Isaiah Drisdom 6'0" | PG Highland | 2026 State UT are just a few names making noise.
#3 5A is Good
5A is really good. Watching Olympus with limited height go toe to toe with American Fork. Alta has looked good against two bad teams but they’re just getting started. Love what we are seeing from Woods Cross as they have played some good early games and even went to Copper Hills and got dub over there.
#4 Scoring Frenzy
There has been a scoring frenzy going on this year. Chudi Anosike Chudi Anosike 6'5" | CG Murray | 2023 State UT is back at it again. I mean he went berserk against Taylorsville. Currently leads the state in scoring. Max Toombs Max Toombs 6'3" | CG Corner Canyon | 2023 State UT is scoring a lot as he has been taking over the offense at Corner Canyon. Mason Bendinger Mason Bendinger 6'3" | CG Woods Cross | 2023 State UT has been on his game as well. Scoring is going to continue to go up
#5 The Shot Clock
The shot clock has done wonders for teams that look to stall. They can’t fully execute that anymore and it makes watching basketball a lot better. Even though there are still a few looking to stall till there is 10 seconds left on the clock.
