The Explorers went 1-1 at the Thanksgiving Hoopfest held in Dallas this past weekend.
Gateway at Canterbury (Fort Myers)- 7:30pm: A cross-town rivalry seems to be brewing between the Gateway Eagles and Canterbury Cougars as one of these two schools will be looking for their first win of the season. The Cougars have been led by 6’1 junior combo guard Leroy Roker Leroy Roker 6'0" | PG Fort Myers Canterbury | 2024 FL averaging 13.5 points and seven rebounds per game so far this season. The Eagles have one of the top ranked wing guards in the Southwest Florida area in 6’3 junior Tavian Cook Tavian Cook 6'3" | CG Gateway | 2024 FL , who is coming off a season where he averaged 17.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game last season as a sophomore.
Wildwood at Forest (Ocala)- 7:30pm: Wildwood is looking for their second win of the season, as they have been led by 5’10 sophomore guard Adyn Corbin who comes into today, averaging 14.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Another name to keep an eye on will be 6’3 senior forward Benjamin Bellamy who is averaging a near double-double at 9.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game through the first three games. Forest is off to a 3-0 start to the young season and have been led by their backcourt duo of Xavier Kirkpatrick and Xzavion McCoy. Another name to keep an eye on will be 6’3 senior forward Tae Floyd who is averaging 15.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game so far this season.
North Broward Prep at Miami Country Day- 5:30pm: The Eagles are coming off a convincing 67-54 win over Martin County to begin the season, as they got a 24 point, 8 rebound and 3 assist performance from senior guard Ryan Weiss Ryan Weiss 6'4" | SF North Broward Prep | 2023 NY . 6’8 junior forward Enrico Borio recorded his first double-double of the season with a 19 point, 13 rebound performance in the win. The Spartans are coming off a tough 67-65 loss in overtime to West Oaks Academy at the inaugural Iverson Classic. 6’6 senior guard Jasai Miles Jasai Miles 6'5" | CG Miami Country Day | 2023 State #241 Nation FL finished with a team-high 22 points and four made three-pointers in the loss. Intriguing matchup in the South Florida area tonight for sure.
Sumner at Durant- 6:30pm: An underrated matchup in the Tampa Bay area to kick-off the regular season for both programs with big expectations. The Stingrays reached the regional final last season for the first time in school history are led by 6’4 sophomore guard Caleb Williams Caleb Williams 6'5" | PG Sumner | 2025 #191 Nation KS and 6’3 sophomore guard Tyler Williams Tyler Williams 5'11" | CG Sumer | 2025 FL . The Cougars have one of the best perimeter shooters in the state in 6’2 junior guard Austin White Austin White 6'2" | SG Durant | 2024 State FL . Can expect a lot of offense in this game as both programs averaged over 60 points per game last season.
