The 5A Rundown
This is a very interesting group of teams. Only six of the 20 teams in this group had winning records last season and only three of those were five or more games above .500. Nearly half of the league (9 of 20) won single digit games a season ago. So the point has been made, team by team, this was not a deep section at all. Not to mention Barnum, the best team in the East by far, lost seven of their top eight to graduation. However, several of those teams that were just under .500 a year ago bring back top players and there are a few programs here ready to take a big step forward. So, who can challenge Nevis, a squad returning four of their top seven from a state team? Browerville-Eagle Valley seems like the team with the best chance. And in the east watch Ogilvie and Cromwell-Wright.
