Over the past few weeks, I've gotten to see a lot of basketball at the Canyon Crest Academy Fall League on Sundays and the Brotherhood Fall League at Del Lago Academy on Saturdays. A lot of the top teams play at the CCA and many of the smaller D3 to D5 programs have played at Del Lago.

Both leagues have unearthed some solid prospects who are a year or two away from being contributors at the next level. Here are some of my favorites.

Terrion Woodard, 6-2 2024 G/W, El Camino

In the last few weeks with several key contributors down with illness or injury, Woodard has played a more prominent role in the Wildcats rotation, and has been a revelation. An athletic, physical presence in the back court and on the wing, Woodward is an excellent on-ball defender and rebounder, and on offense he gives the team a floor spacer with his shooting from the wing, a complement to the drive and kick abilities of PG [player_tooltip player_id='1502805' first='Euan' last='Davis']. If El Camino is to make a push for a league title, Woodard will play a sizable role.

Jett Kenady, 6-1 2025 G, Carlsbad

Kenady had an uneven summer with the Lancers, but has come on strong for the team during the fall as its sixth man. The athletic scoring guard is a streaky shooter from three but is capable of stringing together shots from that range, while also being a solid scorer off the bounce. The area where he's earned a spot in the Lancers rotation is his defense. He's got very good defensive instincts and plays hard on the ball, and he's unafraid to guard the other team's best scorer.

Justin Bogucki, 6-4 2023 W, Canyon Crest Academy

Bogucki caught my attention last year with his midrange scoring ability and underrated handle. This year, it was more of the same during the preseason, as he's a scorer and a capable defender in both man and the zone trapping schemes the Ravens run.

Lachlan Hetrick, 5-11 2023 G, Canyon Crest Academy

The Hetrick brothers transferred after last season from Torrey Pines, and are finally getting a significant role on a varsity roster. Lachlan, a hot-shooting combo guard, was nearly automatic when his feet were set during the ball, but also attacked closeouts and finished baskets around the rim through contact. He's a solid defender who fits seamlessly with what the Ravens do.

Sean Hetrick, 6-4 2023 W, Canyon Crest Academy

The taller of the twin brothers might be the Ravens X-factor, mainly because of his nonstop motor. He gives them a presence on the boards as he pursues everything, and his ability to shoot the passing lanes for steals in the team's trap leads to easy buckets on the other end. In the half court, he's a capable slasher who gets paint touches and finishes to complement a team that does most of its damage from three.

Jason Wilson, 6-1 2026 G, El Capitan

The Vaqueros had an uneven preseason, but buy stock in Wilson early. A crafty scorer who has an assertiveness beyond his years, Wilson can score it from three levels and is a pretty solid shooter from the perimeter. Like many young prospects, it's the defensive end where he's gotta grow to reach his fullest potential.

Cohen Armstrong, 6-5 2023 F, Ramona

Armstrong won't be a big scorer for the Bulldogs, which will get much of its offense from the dynamic duo of [player_tooltip player_id='1437035' first='Dalton' last='Norvell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1502889' first='Chase' last='Newman']. But this long, willowy and athletic four man is a capable midrange shooter off the catch and can finish baskets off of guard penetration. I think he's a player who, if he wants to continue his career, could be an ideal greyshirt candidate at a juco.

Tevon Sesay, 5-7 2023 G, Guajome Park Academy

Sesay has hovered below the radar the past couple of years because the Frogs have been down, but this fall, he's been one of the more improved point guards I've seen. He's playing with much more control than a year ago, and he's an underrated passer, scorer and defender. He gets paint touches at will and is a very good finisher for his size. The Frogs have some intriguing pieces and could sneak up on teams in the D4 race. Sesay will be a big reason why.
