Continue ReadingCornish is one of the hardest workers you’ll find in the Southwest Florida area. He plays with a high motor and great energy when he is on the floor. The 6-5 guard averaged nearly 20 points and 10 rebounds during the fall. He is also very explosive at the rim and is a tenacious finisher. Big junior season ahead for Cornish and the rest of his Charlotte Tarpons squad.
Cotton, is a 6-6 combo guard who can also handle the wing position. He stunned many at the Grassroots Finale in Virginia Beach over the summer, where he scored 31 points and made five 3-pointers. He is a dynamic perimeter shooter especially when he is coming off the screen and is also one of the best catch and shoot players in South Florida. The rising senior has received interest from Maine, South Florida, Stetson, VMI and others. Averaged 17.2 points per game as a junior last season for Miami Southridge.
Davis, is a five-tool basketball player as he brings size, length, athleticism, extremely active on the defensive side and a dynamic scorer on the offensive end. Davis will look to run the backcourt with newcomer Karmello Branch Karmello Branch 6’3″ | SF Tampa Catholic | 2023 State FL who came over from Tampa Catholic during the off-season. The 6-5 combo guard also has the will to score in all three phases whether it’s at the rim, mid-range or from beyond the arc. He will look to lead Wharton back to the final four for a second consecutive season.
Maddox comes over to Charlotte from South Fort Myers where he’ll look to play a huge impact right away. The 6-4 guard does a lot of things well such as rebounding as well as scoring over bigs and can score from the outside. Last season as a sophomore, Maddox averaged 13 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for South Fort Myers. He has emerged as one of the top players to watch in the Southwest Florida area for the junior class.
Highlights
Mayfield, a 6-7 small forward is one of the top rising sophomores in the state of Florida. He is at his most aggressive when he is playing at the post. Mayfield is also very assertive when it comes to defensive rebounding, as well as finishing putbacks. Last season as a freshman, Mayfield averaged 7.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for Edgewater High School. Lots of growth and potential for the two-way player. No reported offers as of yet, but expect that to change in the next couple years.
