Hamlin has an excellent group of young players. They also have one of the top coaches in South Dakota with Todd Neuendorf. In my opinion, Hamlin is a Top-10 team and they have a very good shot of getting to the State Tournament!
2021-2022 Season
Last season had a big learning curve for this young team. The Chargers started 3 freshmen, a sophomore, and a junior. They were a young basketball team that was learning an entirely new system. They improved on both ends of the court throughout the season. The Chargers finished the season with a 15-7 record, they ended the year with a loss to Sioux Valley in the Region Finals.
Off-Season Info
The Chargers had a very busy summer! They had team workouts 2 days a week along with individual skill development workouts. Hamlin played in 4 team camps over the course of the summer. They also had 5 players that participated in AAU basketball. To say that the Chargers played a lot of basketball, would be an understatement!
Top Players
The Chargers return 3 All-Conference players in Tyson Stevenson Tyson Stevenson 6'2" | SG Hamlin | 2024 State SD (2024), Easton Neuendorf (2025) and Brennan Keszler Brennan Keszler 6'4" | SF Hamlin | 2023 State SD (2023). They also return starters Evan Stormo Evan Stormo 6'3" | SF Hamlin | 2025 State SD (2025) and Dawson Noem Dawson Noem 6'4" | SF Hamlin | 2025 State SD (2025) and off the bench Rylan Bawdon (2023). Hamlin will be able to play a great number of lineup combinations throughout the year. They will be versatile on both ends of the floor. I believe they could have a different leading scorer night in and out.

Up-and-Comers/Newcomers
Zac VanMeeteren Zac VanMeeteren 6'6" | SF Hamlin | 2025 State SD (2025) |6’6 F| – New to Hamlin this year and he will likely be an X-factor. Zac will provide athleticism, size, and strength.
Jackson Wadsworth Jackson Wadsworth 6'2" | SG Hamlin | 2026 State SD (2026) |6’0 F| – Look for him to have a varsity role for the Chargers. Wadsworth played JV last year as an 8th grader.
Turner Stevenson Turner Stevenson 5'11" | SG Hamlin | 2025 State SD (2025) |5’10 G| – He will also see an increased role. Stevenson played JV last year and he is a player to keep eyes on.
Coach Todd Neuendorf talks about the Chargers style of basketball
“We want to play an uptempo style of basketball. We feel we can play at a fast pace and want to make use of our athleticism. We have the ability to score from both the post and the perimeter and we want to let our athletes be able to make plays.“
Coach Neuendorf comments on rival schools/teams
“I try not to get caught up in rivalries, I feel we have to play well every night for us to be successful and we have to establish ourselves before we are concerned with a rivalry.“
Coach Neuendorf talks about top teams in Region 2
“Our region in pretty good….Sioux Valley of course is always tough. They are well-coached and prepared. They are always in contention. Clark-Willow Lake is also in our region and again Coach Nesheim always has his guys playing well… I believe Deuel is going to be good from our region. We got a chance to watch them play this summer and I was very impressed by them as well.“
