South Iron defeated West County in the championship game while Fredericktown defeated host Arcadia Valley in the third-place game. Here is a look at the top underclassmen from Thursday night’s action.
Ty Harlow Ty Harlow 5'10" | PG South Iron | 2025 State MO (West County): A 5’10” 2025 point guard who scored a team-high 20 points in the Bulldogs’ loss to South Iron in the championship game. He is a confident ball handler with a lot of poise who has a good feel for the game. He distributed the ball well and he also shot it well from 3-point range. He did a good job of keeping his team competitive with his scoring.
Sawyer Huff Sawyer Huff 6'2" | SG South Iron | 2025 State MO (South Iron): A 6’2″ 2025 wing who scored 13 points in the Panthers’ victory over West County in the championship game. He is a nice athlete who was at his best when he was attacking the basket. He had some nice finishes at the rim off of his drive and he could also pull up and hit the mid-range jumper.
Marquis Burse (South Iron): A 6’1″ 2024 guard who came off the bench to provide instant offense throughout the tournament, including 12 points in the championship game. He is a rangy athlete who was an effective slasher and an excellent weapon in the open court of the transition game. He is also a factor on the defensive end in the Panthers’ full court zone press.
Garrison Turner (West County): A 6’0″ 2024 guard who plays the game with a lot of energy and a high motor. He is an excellent slashing threat who gets into the lane with the jump stop. He plays very well off of two feet where he can finish with strength in the lane. He can also operate well in the high post against a zone defense and step outside and hit the perimeter shot.
Levi Hale (West County): A 6’4″ 2025 forward who I saw play for the first time and was very impressive. He is a good athlete with good size and was very active on the boards with his quick second jump. He also stepped out and knocked down the 3-pointer as he did on two consecutive possessions in the championship game.
Gavin and Gage Douglas (Arcadia Valley): A pair of 2024 guards who can both knock down shots from 3-point range. Gavin Douglas got it done from the perimeter in the semifinals against South Iron while Gage Douglas came off the bench in the third place game against Fredericktown to score 12 points with his excellent shooting.
