2023 All State Honorable Mentions (Part 2)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We recently released our All State by class teams in VA, and of course it was very difficult to do and leaving some of the players out was very difficult. Here's a look at part two of my honorable mentions for the senior all state teams.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1107884' first='Stylz' last='Gardner'] | 5'11” CG | Peninsula Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":1082850,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/11/Garnder-Stylz.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2020/11/Garnder-Stylz-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1082850"/></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gardner was considered for the list because of the way he's played over the last year or so, especially this summer. The 5'11” combo guard from Peninsula Catholic can flat out fill it up as he's crafty off the bounce and as a finisher, he knows how to create space and can make shots from all over and he can get hot quickly and has takeover ability.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1241926' first='Justin' last='Bass'] | 5'11” PG | Kecoughtan</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":1421167,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Bass-Justin-CBG.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Bass-Justin-CBG-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1421167"/></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bass is another player coming off a big summer and the way he's played this fall too he's going to be one of the top scorers in the 757. He's playing with extreme confidence as a shot creator, he's quick off the bounce and able to get to the rim and he is a big time shooter who can do it off the catch or off the bounce.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1232156' first='Connor' last='Lane'] | 6'3” CG | Twin Springs</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lane has been one of the top players in SWVA for the past few years, and he's going to have Twin Springs having a good season too. He's a talented scoring guard who can get to spots off the bounce and score it from all over the floor, he can make plays for others and he's going to put up big numbers this year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1403920' first='Jordan' last='Horne'] | 6'2” PG | Miller School</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":1497784,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/06/Horne-Jordan-Miller.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/06/Horne-Jordan-Miller-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1497784"/></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Horne is the lead guard for a Miller School team that is the favorite to win the VISAA D2 state championship, and their success will hinge on him a lot. He's a strong guard who brings it on both ends of the floor, he can get in the lane where he's a strong finisher and a good playmaker and he controls the tempo and makes plays in transition too.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1403959' first='Josiah' last='Banks'] | 6'4” WF | Roanoke Catholic</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":1423621,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Banks-Josiah-CBG.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Banks-Josiah-CBG-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1423621"/></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Banks was an All State selection last year in the VISAA D3 classification, and he's coming off of a big summer with GATA and is as confident as I've seen him in his career. At 6'4” he's a long and bouncy wing who can get to the rim and finish, he can make shots from deep and put it on the deck and attack and he's a versatile defender who plays with toughness and energy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1483039' first='Tucker' last='Shifflett'] | 6'0” CG | William Monroe</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":1460999,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/05/Shifflett-Tanner-1.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/05/Shifflett-Tanner-1-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1460999"/></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Shifflett was an All State selection last year at William Monroe and is also coming off of a big summer with Team Richmond. He's a skilled and tough guard who is crafty off the bounce and has great moves in isolation, he can knock down shots from deep and finishes well over taller defenders and he can make plays for others too.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
