The underclassmen are ready to take the state by storm with some of them having the opportunity to challenge for All-State honors. Here are the underclassmen who could end up on an All-State team.
Darius Adams Darius Adams 6'4" | SG La Lumiere | 2025 #32 Nation IN , 6’4 SG Manasquan 2025
Adams led the Warriors to the Central Jersey Group 3 title and should led them back to a sectional title in 2022-23. The 6’4 guard is a three-level scorer who can shoot either off the catch or dribble and shoots the ball with confidence from distance. Adams uses his handle effectively to create space for himself and can finish through contact around the basket. He moves well without the ball in his hands and has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor. Adams is a talented guard prospect who will be leading the way for Manasquan this season.
Peter Mauro Peter Mauro 5'10" | PG St. Rose | 2025 NJ , 5’10 PG St. Rose 2025
The Purple Roses reloaded their roster this offseason and Mauro will be responsible for running the offense. The 5’10 guard has a tight handle and a quick first step, which he uses to blow by his defender and finish around the rim. Mauro plays with good court vision and knows how to get his teammates involved in the half court. He has a good shooting form and gets deflections on the defensive end. Mauro will be making plays for St. Rose all season long as the Purple Roses look to make noise in the Garden State in 2022-23.
AJ Williams AJ Williams 6'7" | SF Bergen Catholic | 2026 State NJ / Chidi Nwigwe Chidi Nwigwe 6'6" | SG St. Benedict's | 2026 State NJ , Bergen Catholic 2026
Williams and Nwigwe are an intriguing freshman duo who should take the state by storm. The former attacks the basket with a purpose as Williams explodes off the floor for dunks and is a good finisher around the rim. Nwigwe shoots the ball with confidence from deep but can also get to the basket and finish. They both have the length to defend multiple positions on the floor and move well off the ball. Williams and Nwigwe are talented wing prospects who should have strong debut seasons for Bergen Catholic.
Aiden Derkack Aiden Derkack 6'5" | SG Colonia | 2026 State NJ , 6’4 SG Colonia 2026
The Patriots are looking to repeat as North II Group 3 champions and Derkack should make an impact right away. The 6’4 guard has a smooth release on his jumper and shoots the ball with confidence from behind the arc. Derkack is more than just a shooter as he has a good handle and can finish through contact around the basket. He is an underrated passer and is a solid on-ball defender. Derkack will be one to watch in the GMC all season long with his ability to make tough shots in the half court.
Myles Blackley Myles Blackley 6'3" | SG Immaculate Conception | 2025 State NJ , 6’3 SG Summit 2025
Blackley had a breakout summer on the AAU circuit, which should carry over into the season. The lanky 6’3 guard knows how to get to his spot on the floor and rises up nicely on his jumper. Blackley has a solid handle, which he uses to get by his defender and finish around the rim. He is a strong rebounder and uses his athleticism to make plays on the defensive end. Blackley should put up big numbers this season with his ability to score inside and out.
