Continue ReadingAs we continue to put out some early previews of the upcoming Indiana High School Basketball season we have had a chance to look at some of the top players in the senior and junior classes respectively. We put out our early projections for the Indiana All-Star and Indiana Junior All-Star teams that allowed us to dive into those two classes. Now we will move on to highlighting some of the top players in the current sophomore class. On a statewide basis names like Jalen Haralson Jalen Haralson 6'7" | PG La Lumiere | 2025 #8 Nation IN (Fishers H.S.) and Trent Sisley Trent Sisley 6'8" | PF Heritage Hills | 2025 State #47 Nation IN (Heritage Hills H.S.) are pretty well known at this point. However, this is an excellent class with a lot of depth. Here are six sophomores who will have big high school seasons this winter.
- Chase Barnes Chase Barnes 6'1" | PG Fort Wayne Wayne | 2025 State #355 Nation IN (Fort Wayne Wayne H.S.): There aren’t many athletes in the class of 2025 as dynamic as this Fort Wayne product. The 6’0″ guard is an excellent scorer from all three levels and proved that time-and-time again over the summer with some truly eye-catching scoring outputs. He was second on the team at Wayne averaging 11.1 points per game as a freshman. After earning his first couple Division I offers, Barnes is set to really breakout on a statewide level this year.
- Gavin Betten (Manchester H.S.): Betten burst onto the scene right away as a freshman averaging 18.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game for Manchester High School. He followed that up with a strong summer playing with Indy Heat on the EYBL circuit. Now, the 6’6″ forward is back and looking to expand his game even more for the Squires. He has excellent face-up skill for his size and plays with a non-stop motor. Top 25 prospect in the class according to Prep Hoops Indiana.
- Camden Craig Camden Craig 6'4" | SF Switzerland County | 2025 State IN (Switzerland County H.S.): A highly skilled forward with a strong inside-outside game, Craig was one of the most statistically successful freshmen in the state a year ago. The 6’4″ Switzerland County prospect averaged 19 points and 8 rebounds per game last season. Look for him to really become one of the more talked about players in southern Indiana throughout his sophomore year.
- Hudson Horvath Hudson Horvath 6'1" | PG Park Tudor | 2025 State IN (Park Tudor): Horvath had an excellent summer with EG10 and proved himself as one of the better pure scorers in the class of 2025. He creates his own shot off of the dribble, is a high percentage three-point shooter, and puts pressure on the defense with his playmaking ability. After transferring to Park Tudor from North Central you should see him make an instant impact this season for one of the Class 2A favorites.
- Nijah Jewell (North Central H.S.): I had the opportunity to see Jewell in action at North Central’s open gym a couple of weeks ago and it is clear that he will be ready to make an impact in their rotation. A quick, athletic guard, Jewell will be tough to guard in transition and will provide a scoring punch anytime he is in the game. He’s a good shooter from the perimeter as well.
- Kellen Pickett Kellen Pickett 6'9" | PF Blackhawk Christian | 2025 State #108 Nation IN (Fort Wayne Blackhawk): This 6’8″ prospect earned some valuable experience at the varsity level as a freshman, but should really see his role expand heading into this season. Pickett is a mobile forward who has a well-rounded offensive game for his size. His ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor catapulted him all the way to #13 in the Prep Hoops Indiana prospect rankings. Definitely a name to remember.
