ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The Saint James Fall Jamboree provided us with a good opportunity to check out a handful of teams in an intimate setting. Here are some notes from a busy slate of action.

McNamara is rolling like a well-oiled machine

The Mustangs' five-guard lineup is a thing. [player_tooltip player_id='1362691' first='Chase' last='Lawton'] provides underrated defense and shot-making. [player_tooltip player_id='957109' first='Jeremiah' last='Quigley'] adds clutch scoring and playmaking. 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1370501' first='Jaren' last='Curtis'] is a jack-of-all-trades. And [player_tooltip player_id='957038' first='Jaden' last='Johnson'] is reliable. Freshman Alexander Prince-Moody brings some additional flair to this team with his above-the-rim finishing ability.

[player_tooltip player_id='1343126' first='Phoenix' last='Shahateet']'s Stock is Rising

Shahateet looks like he is in for a breakout junior campaign. The 6-foot-4 guard is super versatile and highly efficient. One thing Shahateet does at an above-average rate is block shots. He is really good at walling up and challenging shots without fouling.

Huntingtown Prospects Emerge

Several new faces emerged this weekend. 2023 PG [player_tooltip player_id='1598797' first='Emerson' last='Neal'] is a name to know. He is a vigilant defender who makes a difference offensively with his passing and cutting. A pair of sophomores who caught our eye with this crew included [player_tooltip player_id='1768970' first='Nate' last='Harris'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1768969' first='Brady' last='Swann'].

Shorthanded Tigers Still Boast Talent

Even without some of their top players, Coach Tee Johnson's crew still had some nice moments. [player_tooltip player_id='1366905' first='Kai' last='Settles'], one of the stars of the DMV Top 250 Expo, took 3 charges in a game vs. the Mustangs. Look out for [player_tooltip player_id='1127318' first='Justin' last='Gilmore'] this year. The 2024 guard has some burst. Look for him to be a dynamic scorer for his team.

Dylan Moore is a sleeper in 2023

DC International has an impressive group. Dylan Moore looked like one of their better players. He is a rangy athlete who passes it well and displays solid off-ball movement. Moore has a good-looking shot and helps out on the boards. He will be firmly on our watch list for the upcoming season.

New-Look Grace Brethren Impress

[player_tooltip player_id='1413515' first='Damien' last='Jones'] continued where he left off this summer with an electric performance. He was devastating in the open court as a scorer or playmaker. [player_tooltip player_id='1579102' first='Daouda' last='Traore'], one of the standouts from DVMElite 80, also had a solid outing.

Additional Notes

The battle between St. Mary's Ryken and St. Mary's Annapolis was hotly contested. [player_tooltip player_id='1759607' first='Noah' last='Rogers'] provided Coach Hulum with steady play at the point guard spot. He is a name to know in 2024.

[player_tooltip player_id='1324462' first='George' last='Vandiver'] looked solid in his first action since suffering a torn ACL back in January. The 2024 guard is a crafty finisher who plays with solid fundamentals. Vandiver played a scrappy brand of basketball and made some nice passes to get his teammates open shots.
