* We will start at #5 and end at the #1 post player.
Ouwinga has a case for being the most improved player in the state over the last year or so. He’s always been big enough and strong enough to be physically dominant in the paint. He’s now added immensely to his game. Ouwinga has greatly improved his offensive and defensive footwork. He shows soft hands and touch when he gets the ball on the offensive end of the floor.
When Wedlow came into high school there were a lot of eyes on him, anxious to see what he could turn his game into. He certainly hasn’t disappointed. Wedlow is an elite athlete that can play an excellent vertical game. He’s become a tenacious finisher at the rim, a perfect example of that being his 2 handed put back finish. Wedlow continues to flash a very high upside and makes moves that shows he’s going to reach that potential.
Grant is a very intriguing prospect. He could just as easily be listed as a small forwad/wing, but for now, we’ll leave him at the 4. He’s a monster in transition, filling lanes and finishing at the rim. Grant gets up and down the floor and looks most comfortable scoring as a rim runner and slasher. He’s solid defensively with his ability to get off the ground and challenge shots.
Davis is going to make a college basketball coach very happy someday. We all know that he’s big, powerful and can dominate the glass. But that’s just where his game begins in my eyes. I’ve always been very high on his game because of what he can do in the mid range. He has a really nice looking jumper that he can get off over top of the D in most cases. Davis has footwork that most young men his size just don’t have.
The lefty big fella has come so far in the development of his game. He’s always been a special kind of athlete, but he’s really put his game together. Alderink has obviously worked hard to, and improved, the range on his jumper as well as his perimeter game as a whole. He looks like a big time power forward at the next level that will be able to pull his man away from the rim as well as dominate inside with his vertical and athleticism.
