Jeremiah Israel Jeremiah Israel 6'3" | SG Lloyd Memorial | 2023 State KY , Lloyd Memorial (36–>15)
There were a ton of kids across the state who used the Covid waiver to reclassify in sports but I’m not sure any player who moved from 2022 to 2023 benefited more from that move than Jeremiah. Israel is a very athletic shooting guard who plays with a good motor. He had a big summer and earned a couple of D1 offers before committing to hometown NKU where he’ll have a chance to compete for playing time as a freshman.
Marquez Miller Marquez Miller 6'6" | SF Newport | 2023 State KY , Newport (104–>36)
Marquez’s ranking has been up and down over the course of these rankings but it looks like the big wing is starting to put it together as he heads into his Senior season. Newport has a bunch of young talent but Marquez will need to be a leader for them this season as they are a true dark horse to win the 9th region with their combination of athleticism and skill level. Miller is long and athletic and should be a tough matchup for opposing teams every night out.
Sam Gibson

Gibson

State
KY
, Covington Holy Cross (92–>42)
We’ve written a lot about Sam over the last couple of months after a standout performance at the PH Top 250 Expo this fall. With his size at 7 foot tall and his continued improvement in his skill level and overall offensive game, Gibson is one of the true sleeper prospects in Kentucky in this class.
Eli Brooks
Eli
Brooks
6'7" | PF
Barren County | 2023
State
KY
, Barren County (110–>52)
Brooks just landed a D2 offer last week and is starting to figure out how good he can be if his motor is always running on both ends of the court. Eli is one of the better Senior prospects in the always loaded 4th region and for Barren to be a factor in the regional title race, he’ll need to really step up his production and be a 20 point/12 rebound type of player on a nightly basis.
Marcus Barker Marcus Barker 5'10" | PG Doss | 2023 State KY , Doss (Unranked–>59)
One of the best players in Louisville that doesn’t get talked about outside of the city, Barker took a short transfer to Fern Creek but is already back at Doss. A “dog” of a point guard, Marcus applies pressure on the defensive end and is hard to keep out of the paint when he’s got the ball in his hands. He’s better than average as a three point shooter and is a reliable free throw shooter and he gets to the line a lot. Look for Marcus to be one of the best point guards in the 502 this season.
