The point guards are floor generals who lead their respective teams into battle on the hardwood. A large portion of the time, these lead guards make the decisions that lead their team to victory. Louisiana has some very good point guards in the class of 2023 all over the state. In this Prep Hoops Louisiana look at positional ranks, we will take a look at the top point guards in the 2023 class.

1. [player_tooltip player_id='1130920' first='Canin' last='Jefferson'] (6'1 | Newman)

Jefferson has all the tools of a high caliber lead guard. He can score at three levels and knows how to run a team with a lot of talent. His ability to get to the spots he likes is what makes him a special talent at the one.

2. [player_tooltip player_id='1055169' first='Kam' last='Johnson'] (5'9" | Archbishop Shaw)

Johnson is a point guard who does not mind all of the pressure being on his shoulders. He will take all of the big shots and makes them more times than not. Johnson can also stroke it from three which makes him very dangerous.

3. [player_tooltip player_id='970139' first='Chris' last='Carpenter'] (5'9" | Huntington)

This Huntington lefty has a masterful handle and one of the sweetest pull-up jumpers in the Boot. While he can score in bunches, his vision allows him to make passes others do not see. Carpenter can take over a game at any time.

4. [player_tooltip player_id='970121' first='Trevor' last='Daughtery'] (6'1" | JS Clark Leadership)

At Opelousas, Daughtery did not have a stellar season like he had in the past at JS Clark. Now that he is back, watch for him to return to form. He is a high level man-to-man defender who can distribute and knockdown the trey.

5. [player_tooltip player_id='1132619' first='Anthony' last='Johnson'] (6'0" | L.B. Landry)

Johnson is a tenacious man-to-man defender who can change a game with his defense. He is a small guard who absorbs contact when finishing at the rim. He is a streaky shooter. When he is hot, he is a difference maker though.

6. [player_tooltip player_id='1273401' first='Jabbari' last='Barry'] (6'1" | Barbe)

Barry may be the best penetrating guard on this list. He uses the handle well to find a crevice that he can slide through. When he gets a straight line drive or when he has the ball in transition, Barry is almost guaranteed to score.

7. [player_tooltip player_id='1130733' first='Tahj' last='Roots'] (5'10" | Bossier)

The Bossier guard is one of the best defenders in the state. Roots can disrupt an offense by guarding someone baseline to baseline. On offense, he has a consistent stroke from deep. He is an asset on the floor at all times.

8. [player_tooltip player_id='1130803' first='N'Derius' last='Walker'] (5'11" | East Ascension)

Walker is an aggressive defender who is very good at changing a game with his defense. He can disrupt offenses and create transition situations for himself. Walker is also good at directing an offense but will get his if need be.

9. [player_tooltip player_id='1145567' first='Connor' last='Greavis'] (5'11" | Livonia)

Greavis is one of the best examples of a true point guard on this list. He thinks about creating for others first and often finds his teammates in positions to score. He has a very good jumper so he cannot be left open for any period of time.

10. [player_tooltip player_id='1471643' first='Simeon' last='Powell'] (5'11" | Amite)

An ultra quick guard who can either get others into the flow of the game or score it in bunches. Powell can get to the rim as quick as a hiccup as well. When he is getting to the rack and making his jumper, he is very hard to stop.

The point guard position is stacked in Louisiana. The top 10 are high quality. With that said, a team that is recruiting can find a good point guard anywhere in these rankings and be happy with their choice. The point guard position is important and no one does it better than these players above.

Look for another ranking about the point guards in this class as they mature into bright young men .
