- Lawrence Rudolph Lawrence Rudolph 6'0" | PG St. Augustine | 2024 State #149 Nation CA-S (2024) | 6-0 G | St. Augustine
Rudolph has been a staple of great Saintsmen teams throughout his underclassmen years and he is coming off a strong summer and looking to make a jump heading into his junior year. As the lead guard for St. Augustine, he does a great job being a heads-up playmaker and staying calm under pressure, and bringing intensity on both ends of the ball, especially on defense where he excels. Rudolph is also a great finisher thanks to his strong build which allows him to finish through contact and is a threat in transition, he is also a player that can’t be left open for jumpers either as when needed he can play the role of a scorer. Rudolph and St. Agustine enter the new season as champions and look to repeat that same success
2. Ryan Enos Ryan Enos 6'8" | PF Cathedral Catholic | 2024 State CA-S (2024) | 6-8 F | Cathedral Catholic |
Enos has developed into not only one of the best big men in his class but one of the best in Southern California. Enos has the ability to be a stretch big with a consistent knockdown jumper making him dangerous in pick-and-pop situations, which combined with his touch and footwork in the post make for a tough combination to deal with for defenses. He also shows bursts of his development as an athlete playing above the rim making him a lob threat and a great shot blocker. He has looked ready to become the next great Dons big as well as making a huge jump in scoring numbers as his young Cathedral team looks to him to take on a much bigger role as they come into the new season looking to stay in the open division mix.
3. Charlie Hutchinson (2024) | 6-7 F | Mission Bay |
Hutchinson enters his junior season with lofty expectations and so far he looks like he is going to be meeting them and become the guy for the Bucs. Hutchinson’s shooting has never been in question as he is comfortable knocking down threes and mid-range shots off the dribble and in volume but he has made significant improvements in the other areas of his game since last season. He has taken a big step athletically making him both a better finisher and exhibiting some impressive dunks as well as becoming a much bigger factor in rebounding. Hutchinson plays with what looks to be newfound confidence in being the go-to man for Mission Bay, he is a mismatch nightmare with his skill combination and looks to have a breakout season with a Buccaneer team that has been making noise in the pre-season
4. Brycen Mackenzie (2024) | 6-1 G | Santa Fe Christian |
Mackenzie has such a great feel for the game already at the point guard position, he can dictate the tempo of the game as the Eagles’ floor general and has excellent court vision allowing him to find open teammates while racking up assists. Mackenzie is a crafty scorer who is comfortable using both hands to finish at the rim with strong takes through contact and acrobatic layups. With his good size for the point guard position, he abuses smaller defenders by playing off two in the point and can create shots over defenders with his much improved shooting touch. Mackenzie has been on fire from three in pre-season contests and looks much more proficient in creating his own offense off the dribble becoming an all-around scorer. Mackenzie and the Eagles look to continue their program’s recent success in winning the Coastal league as they attempt to repeat as league winner and be a strong contender for D1 CIF
5. Euan Davis Euan Davis 6'1" | PG El Camino | 2024 State CA-S (2024) | 6-0 G | El Camino |
Davis had to grow up fast for the Wildcats last season as he was tasked with being their main scorer on the varsity squad as just a sophomore and he delivered. Davis is a player that plays at 100% effort on every single play and seems to never run out of energy which allows him to be a great defender who will pick up from full court all game long and jump lots of passing lanes. He is a machine in transition flying down the court with the ball in his hands and finishing with ease through bigger defenders, and he has a quick first step allowing him to blow past defenders in the half-court set. As the off-season has gone on Davis has made improvements as a play-maker and as a shooter where he racked up points from the free throw line, El Camino returns almost the entirety of their team from last season, and with a more complete Davis, they are going to be a dangerous team with a lot of upside.
