Here are the 5 best guards from the showcase event.
Tacarien Freeman, Fayette Ware: This is my first time seeing Freeman, and I was impressed. The 5-10 point guard is solid on both ends of the floor. In transition, Freeman, a 2025 prospect, pushes the basketball and makes the right reads. He sees the floor well. Freeman has great upper body strength, and uses it well when he’s driving into the lane. He’s, literally, moving defenders out of the way. Freeman is also well-equipped on the defensive end, as he moves his feet well to stay in front of a quick guard.
Devaki Garr Devaki Garr 6'0" | PG Ensworth | 2023 State TN , Ensworth: Garr has always been known for his craftiness and ability to shift gears in transition. In one contest on Saturday, Garr, a senior, found a rhythm from the perimeter, making jumpers in transition. The senior also made solid passes in transition.
Jordan Frison, Memphis Overton: The senior point guard did a lot of good things on Saturday. He was communicating on both ends of the floor, getting teammates open for shots, and making shots from the perimeter when the opportunity was there. Frison is a reliable floor general that tends to do whatever he needs to do to help his team win.
Caleb Thomas Caleb Thomas 6'1" | PG MHEA | 2025 State TN , MHEA: Thomas is a solid ball player. He doesn’t take bad shots and can finish at the rim with contact. Thomas, a 2025 prospect, is a solid ball handler and isn’t quick to take gambles with the basketball. He’s very conservative, which isn’t a bad thing.
Xialin Lenoir Xialin Lenoir 5'11" | PG Lavergne | 2024 State TN , LaVergne: This junior guard can score it with the best of them. Lenior has the basketball on a string, can get to his spots with ease, and loves to take the mid-range shot.
