Rocky Mountain Sports Academy: Preseason Preview Pt. 1

The smooth playmaker is potent on all three levels, thanks to his confidence both as a shooter and ball handler. Once his shots are falling, there is little the defense can do to stop him given his size and fluidity off the bounce. Mills is not just a shooter, he has all the athleticism necessary to play at the collegiate level, both as a secondary playmaker and versatile defender. Given his hops off two feet, Mills is excellent making contests or blocks coming off the weak side. While there is no doubt Mills can make tough shots and even attract multiple defenders coming off screens, I will be keeping track of his willingness as a proactive passer. Within the current rankings, Mills sits at 11th in the 2023 class and 2nd among combo guards.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1420184' first='Christian' last='Seifert'] - 2023</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>At 6'8, Seifert will look to anchor the interior for RMSA, given his potent statistical feats at Eagle Ridge Academy. For starters, Seifert is a true shot blocking threat, averaging an astonishing 4.9 blocks per game this past season, setting him 22nd within the nation. While the forward has high potential on the defensive end, he will need to add functional muscle mass for the next level. Areas he has proven to excel at has been his motor on both ends, either digging into opponents on box outs or hustling for the loose ball. Continuing to develop the free throw consistency will be essential for the forward, given his high potential as a foul creator off putbacks. Seifert has picked up an offer from Arizona Christian, bigs things are in store. The center currently sits at 73rd in the 2023 class and 5th among centers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1420183' first='James-Kyren' last='Allen'] - 2023</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Allen brings a unique blend of perimeter skill and size at roughly 6'7. The incoming senior wing has shown progression as a consistent three point shooter off the catch, while providing flashes as an off the dribble shot maker within a couple dribbles. At his size, Allen is most dominant getting downhill with the left hand, proving to possess the size to bully opponents. Continuing to prioritize his defensive quickness out on the perimeter will be a key area for Allen to boost his stock. The senior currently sits at 70th within the 2023 class and 14th among power forwards.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1369814' first='James' last='Murray IV'] - 2025</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>At roughly 6'6, the sophomore combo guard has serious potential as an efficient secondary scoring threat. Murray brings a unique blend of athleticism and perimeter skills necessary to function at the NCAA level. The guard can break you down one on one, utilizing quick crossovers or between the leg moves to free up space for shot attempts. Given how quickly he gets downhill, Murray is more than capable taking advantages of passing lanes should help arrive. One area worth monitoring will be Murray's defensive consistency, notably through his off-ball awareness. Murray currently sits at 7th in the 2025 class and the top combo guard.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
