Elijah Gaeth Elijah Gaeth 6'1" | SG Millard North | 2024 State NE | 6’3 G | Millard North
If you have not had the chance to watch Gaeth play either this summer or last winter you are missing out. He is a flat out hooper. More of a slashing and playmaking archetype, Gaeth can and will mix you off the dribble and blow by you. He’s very athletic and uses a deep bag of finishes at the rim, both sides, against bigger defenders and can add some finesse as well. Very strong, Iverson like crossover that had defenders lost this summer. Really like his mid-range as another scoring option as his separation move gets him right into his mid range pull up. Can knock it down from deep as well. Gaeth and the Mustangs will look for a 3-peat this winter with quite a bit of scoring returning and some added transfers.
Daleron Thomas Daleron Thomas 6'0" | CG Omaha Central | 2024 State NE | 6’0 G | Omaha North
Thomas is one of two Omaha North players that are going to get some recognition in this article. At times it almost seemed like Thomas was the talk of the tournament. Explosive, athletic, and electric are three words that come to mind when I watched him play this summer. Thomas posses quite a few intangibles in a guard. Three level threat and consistent at all three levels, shoots it well off the catch and off the bounce. Tight handle and separation moves that he uses to get by defenders. He can flat out elevate at the rim. He threw down some hammers this summer and will finish above you. His slashing aspect in his game is one of his highlights. Does a great job of initiating contact and finishing through defenders.
Taye Moore Taye Moore 5'9" | PG Lincoln Southeast | 2024 State NE | 6’0 G | Lincoln Southeast
Moore is a name to know and a name you will hear a lot, especially after not only this past winter but also this past grassroots season. The 6’0 guard was a recent participant in the Larry Hughes Elite Camp where he had a great showing. He has an absolute lights out jumper especially from beyond the arc. Knocks it down very well off the catch or off the dribble. Very high arching shot with a quick release that looks like its going to go in every time. He’s got a great handle and is more often than not able to blow by defenders with one move. Explosive, straight line drives to the cup for easy finishes. Does a great job of getting his teammates involved. Controlled tempo well for his squad and can create off the dribble, catch, and for his teammates. Moore is apart of a young Southeast Knights squad that hadn’t had a lot of varsity experience last winter but that has changed. I look for Moore to lead that squad to a successful season coming off an impressive sophomore campaign and successful junior summer.
Mynor Strong Mynor Strong 6'1" | CG Omaha North | 2024 State NE | 6’1 G | Omaha North (pictured)
Strong is the other Viking from Omaha North that earned his name on this list. Both Strong and Thomas had phenomenal summers with Omaha Elite. Strong is another explosive prospect from Omaha North. Three level threat and converts at all at a consistent rate. Utilizes the pull up three to his advantage well. He’s got great separation combos, does a great job of changing pace and direction and exploding to the basket for a finish. Athletic finishes in traffic and some hammers in the transition were on full display for Strong. High energy defender who will pick up 94 feet and had his hands in passing lanes. Definitely a big time sleeper in a loaded 2024 class. Strong, Thomas, and T’andre Perkins T’andre Perkins 6'5" | SF Omaha North | 2023 State NE are going to give defenses a fit this up coming winter.
Harrison Long Harrison Long 5'10" | SG Mount Michael | 2024 State NE | 6’0 G | Mt. Michael
Long is a big time three point threat. Has a whole lot of range on his jumper which forces you to guard him nearly out to the volleyball line. He’s got a smooth pull-up jumper where he elevates well leaving defenders a hard time to get a contest and can also be a slashing threat. Shoots it particularly well off the catch with his quick catch and shoot but can create off the bounce as well. He will be a problem in Class B this upcoming winter.
