It has always been a popular thought that if a team has a good floor general, they have a chance in any game. A good point guard makes a difference a lot of the time in game situations. In Louisiana, we have a plethora of point guards who can get the job done when it comes to being the floor leader for their team. In this Prep Hoops Louisiana exclusive, we will take a look at the point guards who may be outside of the top ten in their class but will be impact players during the season to come.

[player_tooltip player_id='1213564' first='Jonathan' last='Barron'] (6'0" | Northwood-Lena)

Barron is one of the premier point guards in north Louisiana and is a big reason why Northwood-Lena has had their recent success. He is a knockdown shooter who can also pass (especially in transition). If the Gators make an appearance at Marsh Madness this year, Barron will be a big reason why.

[player_tooltip player_id='1277353' first='TJ' last='Callahan'] (6'0" | Episcopal)

Callahan is a point guard who can get to the rim driving left or right and is a very good three point shooter. He is also a disruptor who uses his speed to get ahead of the defense to finish in transition. Callahan uses all of his assets to help the team and will be big for Episcopal this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1105534' first='Austin' last='Delahoussaye'] (6'0" | New Iberia)

The New Iberia safety is also a very good point guard. Delahoussaye is always in the middle of the action. He either makes defensive plays using his quick hands or he is taking big shots to help his team win. Either way, Delahoussaye having a big season will make a difference in the fortunes of the Yellow Jackets.

[player_tooltip player_id='970109' first='Dylan' last='Dominique'] (6'0" | Madison Prep)

Dominique helped the Chargers to the 3A title being automatic from the charity stripe. This summer, he showed the other parts of his game. Dominique can get to the rim and get to his favorite spots on the floor with the dribble. He also has speed and quickness that gives him an advantage when he has the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1130810' first='Kylan' last='Dugas'] (5'10" | New Iberia)

Dugas is one of the quickest point guards when it comes to changing ends of the floor. His first step when he goes right is lightning quick. Once he gets to the rim, Dugas does a good job at finishing even during contact. The way he plays makes him a difficult cover for guards who defend him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560430' first='Rondae' last='Hill'] (5'11" | Calvary Baptist)

Hill played behind Daniel Ortiz and Martin McDowell the last two years but now it is his ship to navigate. Hill has grown into a lead guard who attacks the rim tirelessly. He places pressure on teams offensively and defensively. His play will be important if the Cavs are to make another trip to Marsh Madness.

[player_tooltip player_id='1273357' first='Jai' last='Johnson'] (5'10" | Hahnville)

When it comes to a point guard who can change the game with his defense, Johnson is probably the best at it. He creates turnovers with his man-to-man defense and is quick to convert on the other end. His passes in transition allow others to finish easily. Jai is very good at what he does.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560363' first='Mason' last='Lavergne'] (5'10" | Dunham)

Lavergne struggled a little bit following all world guard Carlos Stewart. However, watching him this summer, Lavergne is a guard who uses his size and speed to his advantage. He can get to the rim in a hiccup and his outside shoot is very consistent. With him at point, Dunham is in good hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='1105592' first='Collosians' last='Mason-Jones'] (5'10" | BTW-Shreveport)

Mason-Jones has spent his first two seasons coming off the bench for Coach Kenny Sykes. The keys became his this summer and he showed that he is primed and ready to give defenses the blues. He is a quick guard who is good in the mid-range and a hound on defense. His play will drive the success of the Lions this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1273366' first='Kenneth' last='Montgomery'] (6'0" | Zwolle)

Montgomery is one of those under-the-radar guards with a huge game. He is a point who is not afraid to take any shot or make any pass. More times than not, it is the right decision. His ability to step up his play in big moments makes him the fearless point guard he is.

[player_tooltip player_id='1471643' first='Simeon' last='Powell'] (5'10" | Amite)

Powell is one of the smartest point guards that we have in Louisiana and he makes defenses pay using that IQ. He is a master at reading defenses and making the right pass. Powell is also very good at scoring at all levels which puts even more pressure on. His style of play will be critical in the success Amite has this season.

Colby O'glee (5'11" | Airline)

One of the toughest point guards to play the game in this state is also one of the best shooters. Teams cannot leave O'glee open from deep because he will make them pay. He is also very good at probing the lane and finding ways to create shots for others. The Vikings have a natural leader in O'glee and he will be paramount in their success.

These point guards can absolutely get the job done. They are floor generals in every sense of the word and will be players that help their teams have the ultimate success during the season.
