There were plenty of big time matchups, college coaches in attendance and a great atmosphere for preseason basketball.
We take a look at part one of some of the top seniors that were in attendance for session two.
If you want to watch the entire event, you can see it here.
Dennis Parker Dennis Parker 6'6" | SF John Marshall | 2023 State #89 Nation VA Jr. | 6’6” WF | Blue Magic
Parker Jr. had yet another impressive outing for Blue Magic in Session 2 of the CBG Fall Series and helped them to a 2-0 record with his stellar play on both ends of the floor. He showed his highlight reel finishing ability with a couple of very impressive dunks even some of the most athletic couldn’t do, he was fantastic in the open floor as he attacked hard downhill and finished consistently and he brought it defensively competing for possessions and flying around making plays.
Chris Fields | 6’7” PF | VA Bulls
Fields turned in a super impressive Session 1 performance against some very good teams and turned around did the same thing with a superman showing in a close loss to Mt. Zion where he went for 27 points. He’s a versatile mismatch at his position as he shot the ball very well from deep showing deep range and smooth form, he can initiate the offense and put it on the deck where he can get to the rim or get to spots in the midrange and score and he attacks the glass and gets easy scoring opportunities that way too.
Greg Jones Greg Jones 6'5" | SF Hayfield | 2023 State #258 Nation VA | 6’6” WF | CBG North
Jones was absolutely fantastic for CBG North in their two tough wins over Trinity and CBG Elite, and while we often talk about his size, athleticism and all-around game that is so impressive, one thing not mentioned enough is how simple he makes the game and the correct way he plays the game. Whether it’s ripping to get in the lane and kicking out to a shooter, running the pick-and-roll and making the right decision, rotating correctly defensively or rebounding and starting the break, he did a little bit of everything while also scoring it at a high level to help his team win.
David King David King 6'3" | PF Hayfield | 2023 State VA | 6’3” PF | CBG North
King was Hayfield’s x-factor on their way to their undefeated season and state championship last season, and nothing has changed as the 6’3” power forward continues to produce at a high level and be efficient while he does it. He just has a knack for the ball whether it’s moving to the right spot with drivers to get open for easy layups, tapping an offensive rebound to himself for a put-back, running the floor for easy baskets or stepping out to the elbows and three-point line for easy shots, King is always going to find a way to get it done.
Kai Johnson Kai Johnson 5'11" | PG The Highland School | 2023 State VA | 5’10” PG | Highland School
Johnson is going to have to play a pivotal role for this young Highland School team as the 5’10” PG is one of their most experienced players and he showed good leadership skills as well as a solid game that will help them be competitive. Johnson is an excellent shooter from deep with a quick release, he handles the ball well against pressure and makes the right reads when he gets in the lane and he has a calming effect when he has the ball in his hands.
Javen Foster | 6’6” F | CBG Elite
Foster played for CBG Elite this past weekend but he’s actually going to be at Massanutten this season and I’m sure coaches are going to be very intrigued when they see his athleticism and upside. The 6’6” hybrid forward is super explosive off his feet and gets way above the rim on finishes, he can crash the glass for extra opportunities with put-backs and offensive rebounds and he runs the floor hard and gets a lot of baskets just by rim running.
