There were plenty of big time matchups, college coaches in attendance and a great atmosphere for preseason basketball.
We take a look at some of the top freshmen that were in attendance for session one.
If you want to watch the entire event, you can see it here.
Kosi Mgbejiofor | 6’9” C | Catholic
Mgbejiofor is already one of the most impressive big men when it comes to his physical and athletic tools regardless of class, but the fact that he’s just a freshman makes it even that more impressive as he still has tons of room to develop moving forward. At 6’9” Mgbejiofor already is an intimidating post presence, he runs the floor like a gazelle and is a big time leaper who looks to dunk everything and can block shots well above the square and his constant energy and high motor makes him very productive and he brings great energy to his team.
Latrelll Allmond Latrelll Allmond 6'7" | PF Johnn Marshall | 2026 VA | 6’8” PF | Blue Magic
Another extremely impressive young big man, Allmond has all the tools already that translate to the next level and as he continues to improve and become more consistent he’ll likely be one of the top players in the country. The 6’8” big is an absolute workhorse in the paint as he is strong and athletic enough to bang with bigger and older post players, he is fluid and runs the floor well where he can catch and finish well above the rim and he can step out where he can knock down shots out to the three-point line and is becoming more and more consistent with it.
Jordan Smith | 6’3” WF | Paul VI
Smith is known in the DMV as the best of an extremely talented 2026 class that will have a number of players making early impacts in the area, and the way he gets after it and his versatility is as impressive as you’ll see in a young wing. He has a great frame already that allows him to get downhill and play above the rim or through contact, he is a lock down defender with good lateral quickness and he understands concepts and has a good IQ on that side of the ball and he exhibits little to no hesitation or fear despite playing with perhaps the best team in the DMV area.
Odita Aguola | 6’6” PF | Blue Ridge
Angola is an impressive young prospect with a lot of upside moving forward and he’s just starting to scratch the surface with how good he can be moving forward. He’s impressive physically with a great frame that should continue to fill out and he’s likely still growing into his body and will become even more athletic, he plays with a solid motor and always seems to be around the ball to make a play and he while he’s a post player now I could see his skills translating to being a position less guy who can play multiple positions and impact the game in a number of ways.
Daion Jones | 5’11” PG | CBG East
Jones caught our eye during The Platform last year with River City Reign and he showed on his CBG East team that he could be vying for early playing time for the reigning Class 4 State Champions Varina. The 5’11” lead guard is quick as a cat off the bounce and is able to get in the lane where he has an excellent middle game, he has wiggle off the bounce and showed he can get buckets in isolation and run the pick-and-roll and he has a toughness and competitiveness about him that’s easy to love.
