Prep Hoops Maryland updated its 2023 rankings this week. Here is a rundown of some of the biggest stock risers who were featured.

#19 | [player_tooltip player_id='957038' first='Jaden' last='Johnson'] | Guard | McNamara | Previous Rank: #28

Johnson was one of the more productive players for the Mustangs this summer and proved to be a key acquisition for the eventual 3SSB Champs New World. In 8 games at DMV Live, the powerhouse guard averaged roughly 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists to just 1 turnover per game. Johnson knows how to leverage his physicality by aggressively hunting paint touches and seeking contact in the lane. He averaged over 6 free throw attempts per game this summer and converted at a 70% clip. Johnson also demonstrated confidence when getting to his spots from the in-between areas and pulling up for mid-range jumpers.

#25 | [player_tooltip player_id='1362691' first='Chase' last='Lawton'] | Guard | McNamara | Previous Rank: #62

One thing we've come to expect from Lawton is an impact on winning, whether offensively or defensively. While he is not asked to carry much of an offensive load with his high school squad, we've seen him take a game by the scruff of the neck for District Basketball Club. Lawton has a well-rounded skill set and sneaky quickness. He is a talented shot-maker and a dependable decision-maker who doesn't need the ball to be effective.

#37 | [player_tooltip player_id='957107' first='Jaden' last='Winston'] | Guard | DeMatha | Previous Rank: #57

Winston reinforced his credentials as one of the peskier defensive guards in the area this summer. He averaged nearly 3 steals per contest in 8 games at DMV Live. Winston's offensive output was also very consistent. He averaged close to 15 points per game during the live period with the Stags and scored in double figures for 7 straight games.

#41 | [player_tooltip player_id='1413498' first='Quinton' last='Monroe'] | Guard | Lake Clifton | Previous Rank: #68

After leading Lake Clifton to yet another state title in the winter, [player_tooltip player_id='1413498' first='Quinton' last='Monroe'] rightfully made headlines. He averaged over 23 points per game at the Xfinity Center, but is a self-proclaimed defensive specialist first. Monroe credits Coach Herman "Tree" Harried for helping him develop his promising talent with a winning pedigree.

#57 | [player_tooltip player_id='1164830' first='Sean' last='Clark'] | Guard | Mt. St. Joe | Previous Rank: #65

Statistics will not fully indicate how important [player_tooltip player_id='1164830' first='Sean' last='Clark'] can be to the winning formula of a team. MSJ went 7-1 at DMV Live, with Clark featuring in every game and standing out without commanding the ball. His commitment to giving 100% on every play is monumental. Clark is a tremendous rebounding guard who has the potential to lock down an opponent in a given contest. He swiped 4 steals in the Gaels' hard-fought win over Miller at DeMatha.
