Smethwick stood out at Prep Hoops The Last Dance event and finds himself in our rankings. Playing for one of the top programs in Ohio, Smethwick scored just 2.7 PPG as a Junior but could make a big jump as a senior. Smethwick is a tough guard who despite being undersized showed the ability to get in the lane and use creative finishes to score. Smethwick is also a solid shooter, as he made 35% of his 3’s as a Junior. Players that play four years in the Moeller system are usually ready for college coaching from the jump and I expect Smethwick to be no different.
Kenney is a dual sport athlete for the Elks as he stands out on both the hardwood and the diamond. Kenney is a tough defender who makes shots and had some big games at the end of the season including 4/4 shooting in the district final and 3/5 shooting in the state title game. Kenney is also an excellent teammate who does what it takes to win and accepts his role on the team.
Minerd is a prospect I saw multiple times on the Prep Hoops circuit with his Mid Ohio Pumas squad and eventually made the rankings due to his impressive performance at the 270 Hoops Prospect camp. Minerd is a prime example of a prospect who made sure he was seen multiple times and took advantage with a big time showing in front of dozens of college programs. If Minerd can shoot with that efficiency this winter, he’ll likely pick up interest from small college programs looking for a shooter who is smart with the ball in his hands.
Highlights
Fetty is a microwave scorer for a Grove City squad that could turn some heads in central Ohio this winter. Fetty scored 12.3 PPG as a Junior and those numbers should only go up as a senior. Fetty has the ability to score it in a hurry and is capable of creating for himself. After watching him with his Mid Ohio Pumas squad, I want to see him in the high school season to see how he plays under a different system.
Highlights
Ream is another shooter from a Mid Ohio Pumas squad that relied on shooting and floor spacing to beat some bigger and athletic teams. Ream is another prospect who if you catch him on the right day will really blow you away with his scoring talent. Being more consistent should be the goal during his senior season and helping his team win a conference title. If he can achieve those two things, small colleges should reward him with some interest.
