The Blue Jays have been so blessed with dynamic guards the past few years, a lot of good players struggled to get off the bench. There will be a changing of the guard this season, and a guy to keep an eye on is rising-sophomore Austin. He showed leadership in school competition this summer. He’s lightning quick and can get anywhere he wants on the court, and he is a dangerous shooter from deep.
Joey Delargy
Joey Delargy
Delargy popped as a playmaking guard for GABL this summer. He is a fearless attacker of defenses, pushing the tempo to get in space, and able to beat defenders off the dribble in the half court. He has vision and anticipation and can make creative plays when there look like there’s none to make. Delargy is a competitor who will beat you with individual effort, but he is also capable of running an offense and hitting the deep shot.
Brady Hurla
Brady Hurla
Another Hurla to keep your eye on, this one is a pure point guard. Hurla plays with awareness and vision, getting the ball to posts or shooters on time and on target. He is a slick ball handler and a pure shooter. Though not big, he’s a tough on-ball defender who pesters opponents and causes a lot of disruption in the passing lane.
Carson Marks

Manhattan is always deep, so talented players have to wait for their opportunity. Marks seized the opportunity this summer to show he’s ready to take a big leap in responsibility this year. He plays hard and values the loose ball. He can play the point or off the ball equally well because he’s a good passer and defends with athleticism and physicality. He does everything well, and plays smart while playing fast.
Conner Reich
Conner Reich
Another rising-sophomore to watch, Reich showed a lot of playmaking ability in team competition this summer. Reich is a crafty passer who should be able to run the point, but also can play off the ball for the Tigers. He can penetrate and create, hit the floater or get to the goal through traffic. He can also drop the 3-pointer, making him a diverse threat.
