Maddox Melancon (6’3/SG)
School: Eagles Landing HS

If anyone was well versed in scoring the rock, Maddox was that player. He has good size and is stout with a solid upper body. He has a body ready for high-level basketball and the game to go along with it. He is a physical downhill attacking guard that was going through any and all contact that got in the way of his attack to the bucket. Maddox offensive production was thrilling and promising, and depending on the pieces around him at Eagles Landing, it should help translate into wins. His size with the ball in his hands helps him read the floor and make accurate reads, and just as potent as he was scoring the rock, he was just as potent at facilitating. He was one at the showcase that college coaches should put on their board and keep their eyes on him over the next couple of years.
If anyone was well versed in scoring the rock, Maddox was that player.

Kendrell Agnew (5’11/SF)
School: Westlake HS

Kendrell, in our books, is a listed 5’11/SF which is not very good positional size. I have to address the size at the position because many will look at it and develop the wrong perception before giving Kendrell the opportunity to pass the eye test. Kendrell is a slasher that can score the rock off the bounce. He showed the ability to knock down the trey but still needs to work on his efficiency from behind the arc. When he is operating with the ball in his hands, he has a quick-set-up move that left defenders playing catch-up while he was accelerating to the cup. His burst and blow-by speed kept him in the paint and making plays at the rim. Kendrell’s set-up move and ability to change gears once he gets the drop on the defender made him unguardable at times throughout the showcase. Westlake has another young stud in their stable, and his name is one to remember.

Dyson Beaty (5’8/PG)
School: Valor Christian Academy

Dyson is small in size but lightning quick with the ball in his hands. His first step was as quick as any I witnessed throughout the showcase. He is hands down a true floor general with vision, passing skills, and a good IQ for his age. His shiftiness off the bounce and his size and quickness made it very tough for defenders to get an accurate gauge of his movement and quick motions. Teams are going to find it very difficult to cut the head off of Valor’s offense while Dyson is running the show because every time he steps on the court, he will have the edge with his lightning speed because there are not many that can match it when they are defending him.

Sebastian Collins (5’10/PG)
School: Grayson HS

Sebastian was highly active in all areas throughout the showcase. He played both ends of the floor and gave the same effort and energy on both ends. He is extremely quick with the ball in his hands, and he easily made his way to the paint forcing defenses to collapse and leaving themselves at his mercy. Several players tried their luck trying to slow him down, but truth be told, trying to guard Sebastian one-on-one is an arduous task to ask any player that was at the showcase. He created for his teammates and for himself, and at times he showed a little too unselfish play as he passed up open shots after getting two feet in the paint. He is a tough downhill attacking guard that still needs to continue working on finishing thru contact, especially as often as he ventured into the paint. His aggressiveness off the bounce kept defenders on their heels and gave way for Sebastian to show off his middle game, which he had working for himself. He is going to give defenders fits over the next few years while at Grayson.

Blake Hammett (5’11/PG)
School: Calhoun HS

Blake was impressive because he was one that was committed to both ends of the floor throughout the showcase. He is still under the 6’0 mark but should get a couple more inches over his next four years. He is already a stout guard with a strong frame and a level of physical play associated with his game. He is a PG that is a reliable ball-handler that can orchestrate the offense and keep it flowing. He has a nifty spin-move that is a part of his toolbox that he knows just the right time to hit a defender with it to create separation. His game also includes the trey ball, which he shot exceptionally well throughout the day. He is a solid PG with a nice balance between scoring and facilitating. Defensively, he is highly instinctive and plays the passing lanes well, and he is also a player that is not afraid to get on the floor after loose balls. He is a gritty, hard-nosed PG who brings toughness to the court. Offensively, he is comfortable making quick decisions, and as he continues to refine his work with the ball; and harness his defensive intensity, Calhoun will be in good hands over the next few years at the PG spot.

Bentley Huff (6’0/SG)
School: Franklin County HS
Instagram: bentley.huff.5
Twitter: @bentley_huff5
Bentley was aggressive early and often and was a load to deal with off the bounce. He constantly put pressure on the rim as he was determined to get to the rack, whether in transition or in the half-court. Bentley has a nice feel for the game and feel for getting his shot. He is a good finisher with touch and isn’t afraid of contact when attacking the cup. He has an offensive prowess capable of swinging games at any point and can easily be considered a walking bucket. As mentioned, he was aggressive and looking for a path to the rack every time the ball touched his hands, and is going to be instant offense for Franklin County.
