The Freshman Showcase hosted by Prep Hoops Louisiana had an abundance of talent in attendance. All of the players played with maximum effort at the Team Sportsplex. Even with everyone playing hard, there were certain players who stood out. In this PHLA exclusive, we are going to identify the top players from the Freshman Showcase and place them on the All-Showcase team from the weekend.

First Team

[player_tooltip player_id='1543691' first='Tyris' last='Crowell'] (6'7" | Texas High)

[player_tooltip player_id='1543703' first='Jakyi' last='Frank'] (5'9" | Glen Oaks)

Autrail Manning Jr. (6'1" | John Curtis)

[player_tooltip player_id='1543647' first='Cooper' last='Nelson'] (5'7" | Sterlington)

Roderick Tezeno Jr. (6'1" | Opelousas Catholic)

The players selected to the first team from the Freshman showcase all have a legitimate chance to be volume varsity participants at their respective schools this season. Autrail Manning Jr. is a GameChanger and a potential varsity star. The John Curtis point can score at all three levels and has a serious handle as well. [player_tooltip player_id='1543691' first='Tyris' last='Crowell'] showed the ability to very good at manning the paint as an incoming freshman. His rebounding prowess and size will give Texas High an instant contributor. Roderick Tezeno Jr. displayed a well-rounded game as he was able to pass, shoot, dribble, drive, and rebound throughout the course of the day. [player_tooltip player_id='1543703' first='Jakyi' last='Frank'] was practically impossible to stop as he drove to the basket time and time again. His combination of driving and passing was hard for players to defend. Last but not least as a first team selection is [player_tooltip player_id='1543647' first='Cooper' last='Nelson']. All the Sterlington guard did was handle the ball in transition, create scoring opportunities for others, shot the three well, and play good defense. He is a guard that was one of the top GameChangers on the day and will be one to watch in the class of 2026.

Second Team

[player_tooltip player_id='1543695' first='Xarian' last='Babineaux'] (5'10" | St. Thomas More)

Christopher Charlot, Jr. (5'10" | Beau Chene)

Gavin Lucas Jr. (6'0" | Bonnabel)

[player_tooltip player_id='1543665' first='Travis' last='Gallien'] (6'2" | Teurlings Catholic)

[player_tooltip player_id='1543698' first='Sebastian' last='Thrower'] (6'1" | Newman)

The Freshman showcase team had some ups and downs on the day. However, these five are some of the more talented freshmen we will see during the course of the season. Gavin Lucas may be one of the top five freshmen to play this season when it is all said and done. While his shooting was off to begin the day, his ability to get into the paint and his shooting prowess from behind the arc will make him a must see player. Christopher Charlot, Jr. started off the day hot scoring from all three levels. He slowed down towards the end of the day, however. Charlot got some varsity burn last season and will be a definite part of the varsity rotation this season at Beau Chene. [player_tooltip player_id='1543665' first='Travis' last='Gallien'] played like a man possessed in the paint all day in Baton Rouge. He also showed an ability to shoot from outside as well. While he will see most of his action in the paint, Gallion will be a tough cover this coming season. [player_tooltip player_id='1543698' first='Sebastian' last='Thrower'] is going to an already loaded Newman program. The way he handles the rock and can get to the rim, it may be a matter of time before he cracks the rotation. Closing out the team was sharpshooter [player_tooltip player_id='1543695' first='Xarian' last='Babineaux']. The way he shot the ball on the day in Baton Rouge, he was a definite GameChanger and worthy of this selection.

Honorable Mention

[player_tooltip player_id='1543705' first='Tallion' last='Rideau'] (6'2" | JS Clark Leadership); [player_tooltip player_id='1543648' first='Khristian' last='Allen'] (5'8" | North Vermilion); Kerry Brown (6'0" | Madison Prep Academy); [player_tooltip player_id='1543643' first='Joseph' last='Grau'] (5'8" | Providence); [player_tooltip player_id='1543672' first='Brenton' last='Gordon'] (5'3" | Archbishop Hannan); John Hays Hutchison (5'5" | St. Thomas More); [player_tooltip player_id='1543699' first='Jackson' last='Williams'] (6'1" | Newman); [player_tooltip player_id='1543701' first='Jacob' last='Serrano'] (6'1" | Catholic); [player_tooltip player_id='1543676' first='Kingston' last='Jarrell'] (6'2" | Liberty); Athan Olivier (5'11" | Dunham); [player_tooltip player_id='1543670' first='Kaleb' last='Leblanc'] (5'10" | St. Amant); [player_tooltip player_id='1543669' first='Rushad' last='Fleming'] (6'2" | Catholic); [player_tooltip player_id='1543654' first='Joseph' last='Spann'] (5'11" | Lincoln Prep); [player_tooltip player_id='1543690' first='Sam' last='Ponder'] (6'3" | Calvary Baptist)

There is some real talent in this honorable mention group. [player_tooltip player_id='1543705' first='Tallion' last='Rideau'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1543699' first='Jackson' last='Williams'] made some high IQ, basketball plays that displayed the talent that they have. [player_tooltip player_id='1543669' first='Rushad' last='Fleming'] displayed some raw athleticism that will be hard to match by other freshmen this season. Kerry Brown, [player_tooltip player_id='1543701' first='Jacob' last='Serrano'], and John Hays Hutchison made plays as well at the showcase and will be big time talents to watch.
