Matt Askegaard of Barnesville
Bio: A Barnesville grad, letter winner, teacher, etc, he now gets his chance to lead the program.
Position of Program: Solid. The team was 14-11 last year and has some pieces back.
Harry Sonie of Breck
Bio: Harry is the former Apple Valley point guard who has recently been coaching at Augsburg and has been coaching for Team Tyus.
Position of Program: Good. The Mustangs were 11-16 last year but they have three really good guards/wings back that should at least allow them to flip their record.
Dover-Eyota
Bio: New Coach not known yet.
Position of Program: Rebuild. They won six games last year and have struggled since Brady Williams graduated.
Foley
Bio: No coach named
Position of Program: Rebuild. They won only five games last year and it seems there are always new coaches needed in Foley in various sports.
Joe Burger of Holy Family
Bio: Burger started at Minnetonka and went to Holy Family. His next move was to Edina but Burger has come back to Holy Family now an experienced, well respected coach. One of the most respected coaches in the metro.
Position of Program: Championship level. Not only does the Fire have the state’s best low post player in Boden Kapke Boden Kapke 6'11" | C Holy Family | 2023 State #153 Nation MN and a number of solid players returning, they also got three excellent transfers in Kole Hanson, Collin Mulholland Collin Mulholland 6'10" | C Holy Family | 2023 State MN , and Ty Miller Ty Miller 6'5" | SF Waconia | 2023 State MN . Preseason number one in Class AA at this point.
International Falls
Bio: Coach not known yet
Position of Program: Rebuild. Won only four games last season.
Maple Lake
Bio: Coach not known yet
Position of program: Rebuild. Maple Lake had a really, really rough year last season and now they are moving forward with a new coach. A big rebuild it seems.
Ervin Bryant of Maranatha Christian
Bio: former d1 assistant who was an assistant at Eagan last year and has also done some coaching with the Grassroots Sizzle program.
Position of Program: Good. MCA has a nice group of talented players and some good players coming up that should have them hovering around the top ten in Class AA.
Ricky Davis of Minneapolis North
Bio: Former Iowa Hawkeye and long time NBA talent, Ricky Davis has been working with the EYBL and is now stepping into coaching at the high school level.
Position of Program: Solid. You know the Polars, always making a splash and a headline in some way! Davis is the latest headline. The Polars graduated a lot of talent but they have a really good junior class. The Polars have not found a way to grab a Class AA title yet despite a ton of talented teams, maybe Davis will help them take that step.
Paul Dewey of Moose Lake-Willow River
Bio: assistant for the program steps into the top role.
Position of Program: Solid. Won 19 games last year and has been a consistent winner over time. Has some good players back.
NRHEG
Bio: New coach not known yet.
Position of Program: Good. They won 15 games last season and have one of the better players in the section returning in Daxter Lee. They have a chance to be a top 5-6 team in the section.
Spencer Aune of Rock Ridge
Bio: Aune has been working and coaching (Girls) at Virginia and is now working at the new school Rock Ridge
Position of Program: Good. Virginia and Eveleth-Gilbert were expected to be pretty good teams this year as they have a number of solid players back, each. Now they are combined so they should be a good team.
Seth Altenhofen of St. Clair
Bio: Seth has been a coach for the Minnesota Select program for a number of years and is from the area so he will fit right in with this program.
Position of Program: Rebuild. We have to call this a rebuild because it was a giant senior class that graduated and those seniors played the lion’s share of the time winning 21 games. It will be a new group but could be a good group.
Adam Schroeder at St. James
Bio: Schroeder has been at St. James for several years. He was the assistant for the team the last six years and was the head coach for the girls team in years past.
Sam Esbolt of St. Paul Humboldt
Bio: Humboldt has been at the college level working at Minot State and Des Moines Area Community College in recent years. Very qualified coach heading into HUmboldt
Position of Program: Rebuild. This has been a rebuild forever and last year they won two games averaging a 30 point loss each night.
Sibley East
Bio: New Coach not known yet.
Position of Program: Rebuild. A three win team last season that has struggled the last few years.
Tom Terhaar of Spectrum
Bio: Tom has been coaching with the Northstar Titans and doing a really nice job.
Position of Program: Good. They won 20 games last year and have been fairly strong for a number of years. There are a number of good players still in the program.
Cornell Pillow of Twin Cities Academy
Bio: Pillow is a trainer and a coach for the Minnesota Magic. He’s an all around basketball constant and a guy ready to take on his latest challenge.
Position of Program: Rebuild. With the McNeal twins moving to the next level there is a lot of production that needs to be replaced as the pair had the ball much of the game as quality combo guards. So it will be a new looking team.
Tri-City United
Bio: New Coach not known yet.
Position of Program: Rebuild. A three game winner last year and a program really hasn’t had a run in some time.
Waterville-Elysian-Morristown
Bio: New Coach not known yet.
Position of Program: Decent. WEM has been a consistently good program for a long time. Last year they fell to seven wins but there is a nice sophomore group coming up.
